How To Create and Add Tables

Tables can be tricky, because they require a lot of different tags to work. You need a separate tag for each table, column, and row. Then you can set different attributes for each cell. The code can become complicated very quickly. However, tables can be a very powerful tool, especially when you want to specify exactly where text and images appear on your page. Plus, you can insert anything you want into a cell, including applets, flash movies, or even other tables.

Luckily CoffeeCup Html Editor simplifies the table creation process. Using a table creation wizard, the editor can write all of the code for you, once you specify the table setup.

Here are the specifics on how to use the wizard:

Open the Table Wizard from the hot button, or from the Main Menu under Insert >Table Wizard.

Open the Table Wizard from the hot button, or from the Main Menu under Insert->Table Wizard.

From this screen, you can assign different parameters to your table.

Here are the details for each blank:

Rows & Columns:
Here you can change the size of the table.

Cell Spacing:
This number determines the amount of space between cells.

Border:
This number will determine the size of the boarder around the table itself.

Cell Padding:
Changing this number will change the space between the cell boarder and the cell contents.

Table Width & Height:
Here you enter the percentage of the page you want the web page to take up. For instance, if you want the table to take up the entire width of the page, set the Width to 100%. You may also change this number from percent to pixels, and enter a pixel amount.

Border Color:
Defines the color of the boarder that surrounds the table.

Background Color:
Sets a default background color for the table.

By going to the Cell Attributes Tab, you can change the values of each cell. You can change the alignment of the contents within the cell, the boarder and background color of the cell, and the cell contents. If you want the content to be an image, click on the file button and locate the image you want to insert.

When you are ready to insert your table, hit the "Cool" button, and let the editor write your code:

The code shown above produces this table:

As you can see, this is more powerful than simply using the left and right align buttons. With tables, you can align several pictures or text the way you want them to appear. You can easily create columns, if you want your page to look like a newspaper. If you don't want cell lines, just change the boarder size to 0, and a viewer won't even be able to see that a table exists, as in the above example.
