Transferring your Lockbox database to a new computer

Migrating to a new computer? Want to move your Lockbox database over? You'll need to make sure that you copy your .pwk file over to the new computer. The location of where this file can be found and where it should go differs depending upon which version of Windows you are using.

Windows XP

Your .pwk file will be located here on 32-bit systems:

C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software\Lockbox\pwk.pwk

Or here on 64-bit systems:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CoffeeCup Software\Lockbox\pwk.pwk

If you are going to stay on Windows XP, simply move this file to the same location on the new computer.

If you are moving to Windows Vista or 7, the .pwk file needs to move to a new location. To find this location, you will have to configure hidden files and folders to be visible in order to access this file. Here's how:

Windows 7/Vista

First, configure hidden files and folders to be visible:

  1. Open your My Computer folder.
  2. Select Organize > Folder and Search Options > View tab.
  3. Scroll down and select Show Hidden Files and Folders. It's also a good idea to uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types.

Now that the LockBox folder is visible, you can access the folder where the .pwk file can be found and/or placed:

C:\Users[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup LockBox
