With the latest release of CoffeeCup HTML Editor, we made some modifications to the installer to allow for greater flexibility on how the software can be installed. This improvement now allows for the HTML Editor to be installed under an Administrator account and limited user accounts. For many years the HTML Editor has always been installed into the C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software folder. While this is an easy location to remember, it presents a problem as Windows tends to prevent the writing of information to these folders. Therefore, we are now installing the software into your user's AppData folder which is fully read/writable. So what does this mean? If you are a new customer to the HTML Editor, don't worry about a thing. If you already have an existing version of the HTML Editor, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Windows Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall all versions of CoffeeCup HTML Editor.
  2. Now install HTML Editor. Yep, it's that easy!

For those that have inquiring minds on where the HTML Editor is installed, this is how you can locate it. You will need to make hidden files and folders visible in order to access this directory. Here's how:

Windows XP

Open your My Computer folder. Select Tools > Folder Options > View tab. Scroll down and select Show Hidden Files and Folders. It's also a good idea to uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types.

Windows 7/Vista

Open your My Computer folder. Select Organize > Folder and Search Options > View tab. Scroll down and select Show Hidden Files and Folders. It's also a good idea to uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types.

The software will then be located as follows:

Windows 7 / Vista

C:\Users\[NAME]\AppData\Roaming\CoffeeCup Software

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\[NAME]\Application Data\CoffeeCup Software
