Don’t use automated pop-up windows. Pop-up windows are probably one of the most annoying things ever created. Why do you think these software companies have created software to block them? Exactly — people hate them. Typically they are used to deliver ads and irrelevant content to your users. Many people use some type of pop-up blocker software, whether it is the one built into their browser or a purchased commercial product. If you are trying to deliver content that is relevant to your site and your users, you should consider working this into the content of your pages and forget about using pop-up windows.
