Changing Modes

There are three main types of modes for uploading files in an FTP client: auto, ASCII and binary. All text-based files need to be uploaded in ASCII code, while all images, movies and audio files need to be uploaded using binary mode. Auto mode will automatically upload the file using the correct mode (ASCII or Binary). Examples of ASCII files include .html, .php, and .txt. Examples of binary files include .mp3, .jpeg, and .mov.

You need to be sure a file is uploaded in a certain mode. You can change it by clicking the button below and choosing the proper mode. Make sure to switch the mode back to auto when you are done.
