I would like to offer the icons we all see for readers to share with social media, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and GoogePlus. Can anyone illustrate the process of placing these icons on my website using VSD? Thank you, John

You can get your buttons at these sites:
https://www.addthis.com/get/sharing
http://www.sharethis.com/get-sharing-to … lQQbg.dpbs
(or Google for others).
Just follow the instructions and you'll usually end up with a snippet of code to insert in your site's head area ( Edit > Edit Head – copy then paste the code there).
You'll also have the button code snippet, use an HTML box to position it on your pages.

Depending on the code, you might not see the buttons in a preview – the site might need to be "live".

However, it doesn't seem to be working. I am sure it something that I am doing but what?

I used the second link and generated code per the instructions. I copied this code and placed it in VSD using the HTML tool. I published and nothing happened on the website!

Any suggestions?

You probably need to link to the Jquery library.
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>window.jQuery || document.write('<script src="js/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"><\/script>')</script>

This would go in the <head> section. It links to the Jquery code library so you don't have to install it on your site.

See if that gets it working and let us know :)

Thank you both for your suggestions.
Paintbrush, I used your suggestion and nothing showed up.
Gunsmoke, I used your suggestions and I got in the left margin LinkedIn (share) and Twitter (share) icons but they were the bigger nicer icons. I am still unable to get the Facebook (share) icon.
