hello everybody,
im new to web design and have recently purchased the vsd and already had web image studio ( I WON FROM MY EGG!)

i dont know how to word this as i have no idea of the language of web design but ill give this my best shot

as you can see above this website uses an image copied multiple times across the top and botom to form a continuous blue and black bar

how can i do this without it filling the entire page all the way down as ive tried top left top center top right etc and they just produce 1 single image in the desired location

basically i want it to stretch to each side regardless of browser size like the fill background would do

is this possible in vsd or do i need another program to do this

sorry if its worded wrongly ill try harder if no one understood this :S

The effect you are talking about is called a tiled background. I could have shown you how to achieve it in the HTML Editor, but I'm sure one of the VSD experts will turn up here soon and walk you through it. ;) Ha en riktig god dag!

no this will tile the image all the way down the page here's an example of what i mean

my site example shows the bar ending at the edges of my workable area but i want it to copy this image either side to each end of the page like it does here at coffeecup

if i tile it as a background it copies this image all the way down the page and i just want it to stick at the top for the first 200 pixels as thats what size the image is

100 x 200 pixels

Mark, make something like this:
http://callie.coffeecup.com/storage/bckgrnd.jpg
It's a series of strips, with a large white one in the middle to be used as the main page area.
You can see how it looks here: http://miriamswitchingpost.org/

It should be long enough so you don't see the pattern start to repeat at the bottom, but it doesn't have to be very wide because it will repeat across. Use the background options (image) under settings to add it. Do not put anything in the page background (Page Settings). I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. You could do the same as above, just leave off the color borders on the bottom. Or you could use a bit of code to make this work. See the sample on this page:

http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/tryit.a … nd-repeaty

Repeat y makes it repeat vertically, change it to repeat x to make it repeat horizontally. I think you only need what's between the <style.....</style> tags (with your image name). It's been awhile since I had to add a background this way – but the head and body tags are already in VSD. Inger will know what to do to make it work :D
To add the code in VSD, go to Edit > Edit Header and paste it there. Then go to Edit > Add Files and browse to select your background image file. I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (Douglas Adams)

If you only want a top ribbon.:)
Here's my version.
http://progrower.coffeecup.com/ribbonheader.html I can't hear what I'm looking at when it's so easy to overlook something I'm not looking for.
Here's my S-Drive site with
examples of what can be accomplished in VSD.

That's how I did mine, except I added it through Settings > Background Fill Properties :D I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (Douglas Adams)
