Hope I can explain this so it makes sense....
A client recently switched to a new host (to a design firm, rather than a hosting company). The client is part of a larger organization which already had its own website. The client's site is separate but has links to the main site.
Anyway, the FTP info I got from her is for the main organization's site. The client's site is in its own folder within the organization's public_html folder. I've been uploading the site from within VSD, but I'm not sure what to do now.... would I put public_html/site.org in the remote folder field? I don't want to get the 2 sites mixed up

You would put public_html/Name of folder of where clients site is/
That should upload the site into that folder and not mess with the rest.

OK, one more thing...
Should it be: public_html/site.org
or:
public_html/site.org/ <<<with a slash on the end?
Thanks for the speedy reply – you're giving Eric some competition

I would think this.
public_html/nameoffolder
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.

I noticed SirAGE put the slash on the end in his example – now I'm not sure if I should include it or not

It is not required. I do it just because. lol:lol:

I've been all over the interwebs trying to get a definite answer.....no luck.
The best answer I could find was – Use a trailing slash after a directory, but not after a file.
public_html/subfolder/ ----- use slash
public_html/subfolder/article.pdf ------- no slash needed
Maybe I'll include it....just because

Like I said, it is just a habit I have. Just like I do not use the / after a file.

Publishing in VSD I don't use it but in direct ftp I do. What ever works go ahead and pull the trigger.
Hit that publish button. What's the worst that could happen?
