I keep getting messages that this file
http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js
is bad and mcafee gives ratings suggesting I have a phishing site

I know it has something to do with IE updates or old versions of IE. Is it worth having in my page?

I can't answer your question properly, but have you checked if McAfee wants you to add some verification code, similar to what Norton wants, and also Google? If this is not the case, the support at CC should know as they had the same problem with McAfee some years back.

The HTML5shiv makes it possible for outdated browsers to recognize/display your HTML5 elements, like <section>.

It seems that the HTML5shiv is no longer on Google's CDN.
I found it here: http://cdnjs.com/libraries/html5shiv
Or, from the old Google page, there's a link to it's new 'home': https://github.com/aFarkas/html5shiv
(also has manual install instructions)

If you want to install the code on your server rather than using a CDN, here's some info: http://www.techonthenet.com/html/elements/html5shiv.php

Have you tried removing the old Google link and replacing it with the more recent HTML5shiv (ver. 3.7.2)?
