Your suggestion is incorporated and up at http://jacksonrecall.com/Neighborhoods.htm

I just need more practice with it I guess.

Thanks and best regards

Looks like it works fine from here. What issues are you having?

None other tha I wanted to shrink it to smaller size. No easy way to do that.

So I have two different ones that work fine. Yours and one I did with an on line program.
*Edited to remove rival software link*

I will leave as is. Works great.

I do find it hard to belive that you were able to do all that you, especially mapping the areas in 20 minutes.
Truly amazing.

Thanks for everything.

Best regards

Wow, after reading this thread guys, I just had to chime in. Robert, I have used Image Mapper off and on for over a decade and I can build an image map off any image in under 5 minutes. I can say if anyone cannot figure out how to use such a simple program, they probably have bigger issues they need to deal with. Like maybe not find another hobby. ;)

This is one of the most simplest programs I have ever used.

It is truly amazing though how so many people try and lend a hand here though. I have never seen any forum like this yet.
Just me. Nothing much that I can think of to say.... ;)

First of all I appreciate all the help from everyone. However, you sort of insulting comment above is off the wall.

As I stated earlier in this thread I had the map complete with all 16 areas designated. One rectangle and 15 small circles.
The code below it in the code window in design mode showed only the rectangle and 2 circles. The preview showed all 16. I save the map and the saved code only showed 1 rectangle and 2 circles. I repeated this with the same result. I shut the program down and started all over. Same result. Tried again same result. Tried again and the program froze my computer-task manager shutdown.
I do not need another hobby. I started programming on an IBM 360 probably 50 years ago.Program in C++ and Pascal and have programs in use by clients since 1994 after retiring from engineering. Worked all over the world and US design/construction of nuclear and fossil plants.
The fact is I found a map designer on line that worked flawlessly. The example posted by ChefScott works perfectly and demonstrates that the image maker works fine and I am using that code live.
I intend to use image maker again on a smaller version of the image to try and wring out what I must have been doing wrong.

Best regards

This should do what you need for that particular page, take a look:
http://decalsandtees.com/misc/map-test/Neighborhoods.html

And here is a .zip of all the files. Just unzip and upload.

Pretty easy to make the output from Image Mapper responsive, thanks to the easy-peasy directions found here: :D

I will take a look. Thanks. In the meanwhile I redid the page with a smaller map. Took about 25 minutes in Image Mapper.

Pretty easy when someone else does it. I was looking at that site and did not want to mess with the js then.

Robert, I will not mess in with those who are trying to help you with the image mapper (although I have used it occasionally and find it straight forward). Also, I have not checked your code, but I hope you have got rid of anything created by MSPublisher.

We asked you to upload your site so that we could see it live, and you did. But now that I see those pdf files I wonder if they actually should be on the web. I don't know to what extent the information in them is sensitive or not, but I would think, that their contents are not for 'just anybody's' eyes. It might be a good idea to password protect them and authorize those who need access with user details.

Inger: Yes I got rid of the MSpub stuff. The sales information is public information on the City of Jackson website.
I simply loaded it into spreadsheets and categorized it so I could graph it to show the overall increase/decrease in property values. To understand what this is all about start at http://www.jacksonrecall.com I own rental property there whose assessed value has fallen 30-40% in the last 2 years. The council majority and manager are trying to reduce available rental housing by demolition to force growth in the downtown core where tax increment funds (TIF) can be recovered to pay of a pending flood of debt obligations.. We are tying to "throw the bums out".

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
