I am trying to build a website for a client that will let my client be able to add job listings to her site and have the site automatically send an email to anyone that has signed up for the notification. Any suggestions on how I should go about this. Or if anyone can point me in a direction to learn how to accomplish this task.

you can set this up in the sites cpanel, or use mailchimp, but off hand not sure how to have the site recognize when an update has occurred automatically and then send out the notice. Not without some custom PHP solution.

Plenty of ready made scripts for this very project. Google Job board script.

An ASP .net page could handle this very easily, also.

Tom's proficient Google skills show that there are quite a few open source software communities that have functions pre-built to handle situations like what you've outlined. Tons of options but most depend greatly on what is already built.

A very simple solution that doesn't meet the definition of automatic is to have the submit button to the list redirect the browser to a CoffeeCup Web Form Builder page. That instructs the user that they need to confirm that they want the new posting emailed and tie the forms submit button to an email. The big drawback here is that it the email addresses in Form Builder will need to be manually maintained. Depending on the quantity of users this solution might be very time consuming.

Alright, thanks for the info. I'm going to look a little more into Toms suggestions. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to use an asp.net page since my clients hosting company is linux based. But, thank you all the same.
