Hello all,
Wonder if anyone can verify the correct way to do this: I have had our site ie: http://www .example.com in Google Webmasters tools and have it set has "Preferred Domain - being WWW" now that we have HTTPS I am confused in how many of url's our sites should be added. Is the recommended thing is to add (4) versions of your site ie:
http://example.com http://www.example.com https://example.com and https://www. example.com

If so do ALL of them than have to be redirected to the site you want to show? for us the http://www .example.com version?? or is this something that Google or who ever does automatically?? :/
Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Setup 301 redirects for all the links that don't point to your preferred url format. Google will see them as individual sites and you may be competing against yourself.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Eric thanks again - Question: If my http non ssl was done first and Google has indexed 63 pages I don't touch it so as not to lose indexing? But I make the https://www. url as the Preferred format and as long as ALL links are https Google or Bing etc do know and even though u put in a non ssl url it will go to my ssl url site.....am I right?

If you setup the 301 redirects google should update the indexes.
