I cant se streaming video at my webpage.

I have maded the webpage livevideo.html and uploadet it by following the instruktions.
The program shows me that it upload streaming video, but there is nothing at the webpage, only at black screen.

The program tells me External Streaming URL: mms://87.54.92.6:80 and it is named in the webpage.
Can it be my router ore firewall there are the problem.

Mine is the same way, if I hook directly into the cable modem it works fine, but if I use my router it wont work.

I have ports 80,21 and 1062 open on the router and still wont work. Im not sure what to do now ??

Same problem here - is it something to do with dynamic IP?

When you hook it directly and it works, this shows that it is definitely a port/routing issue. You need to double check any port forwarding and firewalls to make sure all ports are open. A good way to test is to use a telnet program and try to connect directly to that port. Something like

telnet #.###.###.### 80

this will try to connect to the ip over port 80. ~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

I have no idea what ports it's trying to use. I have a BT HomeHub so if you have any bright ideas regarding configuring that without ruining existing things that work then please let me know!

Scott is right(as usual). The port forwarding control is located on the adnin panel of your router. Say your streaming port is 8080(I personally use this port most of the time and you can choose your port from the options on the webcam software) , you would set your port forwarding to 8080 UDP. Another option is to put your computer in the “DMZ" (make sure the firewall is up on you PC). This is also done from the admin control panel of your router. If you personally know a online gamer, they can probably help you with this or for assistance in setting this up,check with your router company(I would tell you, but each brand/model of router has a different control panel). You can also connect your computer directly to your cable modem and bypass you router. This is kind of a pain, but it solves the problem.

Other things that can be issues are:

-There is a delay when streaming any video. Make sure you wait for several seconds before you assume its not working(also test in both browsers-firefox and IE).

-Dynamic IP's. Unfortunately with most residential cable accounts, your IP address changes on occasion. If you unplug your modem, the same thing will probably happen. When your IP address changes, your html page will have the wrong IP and it won't work so you just re-upload you page and it will work.

-The firewall on you computer. Make sure its allowing the Coffeecup webcam software to access the internet.

It's easier to solve than you may think(google your router documentation or call your router customer service). When you solve the local problems with the router and firewall, any of the other things are really a breeze to do.

Hope this helps,

Hi Hollabck86,

The ip address is different for each persons computer so you cant get it from someone else. The port is the port your computer streams from is set up from your streaming software.

I have tried vlc for audio streaming and really didnt like the software. I had difficulty getting it to work. Not trying to sway you though, but I found coffeecup to be much easier to use. That's just my 2 cents. I love Coffeecup and VSD!: http://mylife.coffeecup.com (add /stream to the url see boring pictures)
