I purchased web jukebox as soon as CC released it (however long ago that was. Shortly there after a large discussion arose about the leagality of using it to play music ripped from CD's. I thought the matter was resolved and have been using it on my site with no problems until today when I recieve mthis e-mail from my hosting service after I added a sub domain to my site.

The only thing I have on the site that is not competley mine is the web jukebox

Has anyone else incurred in problems of this nature recently? Or does anyone have any knowledge of a ruling against using copyrighted material in the jukebox?

It is my understanding that due to the way JukeBox handles the "playing" of music it does NOT breach any copyright laws. JB does not download the music files to the "viewer/listeners" computer, nor does it allow the user to copy such music, it simply transmits the music for listening pleasure. If they are concerned about someone possibly downloading the individual files, maybe you could use WAM (Web Access Manager) to secure a folder and put the files in that folder.

I'm sure others here will chime in as well. Please keep us up to date on what happens with this. As far as I know this is the first time any problems have been raised concerning JB. Living the dream, stocking the cream :D

Hi Phill,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's what I thought. I've been using this program since CC released it (and on the same site). In fact, I have another sub domain that has music on it that has been up for two years and they haven't said anything about that one. I think it's the music industry guys who think they should get some money for each and every use of the songs forever. I'll keep you posted on how things go with this. I complained to my hosting service but I don't think it will do much good. I'm going to try to look into the leagalities of what you can do with music that you purchase. Seems to me that short of reproducing it for resale we should be allowed to play it on any device we choose. Maybe I'll start blog or some kind of web poll on it. If

Well if they continue to refuse to allow you to use it... Come on over to my servers :) I'll host your site(s) for you, and they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. Living the dream, stocking the cream :D

That may be a reality, my paid up subscription with them ends in December and I just may switch anyway. Maybe you could e-mail me some info on your services photography@dynamicspectrumphotography.com and I can compare it to what I'm getting from them

Does anyone know of a good inexpensive service that will support use of Jukebox?

I have been with Bravenet for four years and up to now was happy. Unfortunately after years of using CC's web jukebox without any problems they have sent me a notice to remove all jukebox content from my sites (sub domains) as they violate their TOS copyright rules.

Currently this is what I'm getting from Bravenet for $8.25/month:
No set up fee, Linux OS
Free domain name, 27/7 server & connection monitoring
Ad free web tools, 64 bit dual core processors
host 10 domains, Editor Visual
600 gigs of band width, Wedsite builder
30gigs of storage space, SSI
Unlimited e-mail accounts, PHP 5.2 as a fastcig
Unlimited FTP accounts, Unlimited MySql Databases
Detailed traffic stats, phpMyAdmin
Unlimited sub domains, PHP pear libraries
Secure SSl encrypted e-mail, Support for php packetages such as phpNuke
Webmail address book & Calendar, htaccess support
And a lot of other technical stuff

I use 1and1.com. They have a business version with 3 domains (come with the package), unlimited 1and 1 domains, 100 external domains, 250 Gb webspace, 2500Gb transfer volume, 25 FTP accounts. You can look at the Linux hosting packages to see the other stuff they provide for 9.99/month.

The next smaller package is a home version, and it has less capacity and features but only costs $4.99 per month.

I have had good service, and the only time I know that the site was down was when they were doing scheduled equipment upgrades, and that was middle of the night for a short period. Bill R.

I have only used sounds that my family has recorded, so I have not used the JB. Bill R.
