I usually upload all of my web page files to my public_html folder.
When I upload myvideoplayer files later today, is it ok to upload them there or do they require their own special folder?
If so, do you create the folder or is done for you?
And yes, I'll paste the html on my web page also.
THANKS

Hi Mike,
if you use the Video player program to upload you can pick the public_html folder as a place to install it, and yes Video player will make that folder called
myvideoplayer_files folder for you and all of the vids will be in that folder along withthe buttons, and it will put the html , xml, swf outside that folder where they need to be, even if you do place the html code in a page.
You can also just use another ftp to upload the video folder, just make sure that as explained above the xml, swf are outside the vid folder and in the same place as the folder. "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Ok -- thanks !
What a PAIN.
I simply saved my project, uploaded the files and did a copy and paste as it dictates.
I used the ftp in the web video player which showed public_html as the folder.
It threw files all over the place when I checked to see why it wasn't working.
The "myvideoplayer* files were in the root folder -- the player jpg was in the images folder and it DIDN'T EVEN UPLOAD THE FLV VIDEO FILE !
I do have a lengthy (10mb) video -- maybe that has something to do with it. ?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I have all 3 myvideoplayer files (html -swf-xml) in my public folder. I also put the "bd.jpg" player image in the public folder and I can see the player.
I also uploaded my video.flv to my public folder
What am I missing?
I see alot of shape.gifs in my images folder -- are they part of it? I also see some other gifs but how am I supposed to know what belongs to web video and what doesn't?
I also put my video.flv file in the public folder and also tried to put it in the myvideoplayer folder but nothing -- all I get is is "transferring data which just locks up.
Now -- here's the fun part --
it previews fine in web video player.
???????

Hi Mike (Happy Easter),
this is what your video files should like in the public_html folder:

Even if you copied the code on to a page. the video folder and files have to be in the same directory as the html code, only difference is when copying the code to a page you don't need the html file just the swf and xml and folder.
yes it say jukebox but still the same concept.
Mike Looking at your previous Posts I see your using Visual Site Designer.
In this case just use the flash tool to add your video or 3 videos ( if seperate) and then save it. VSD will add all the files itself and you'll have no worries.
choose upload and your done. "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

That's what I have.
The subfolder --
public_html/myvideoplayerfiles (which has the bd.jpg and video.flv in it -- those 2 nothing else)
and the 3 files you mentioned are in the public_html folder.
Actually I'm using webpage maker for the site.
I even once tried taking the files out of the subfolder and putting them direct into public_html
It previews fine -- I need to test a shorter video later -- maybe that's it.

By the way -- do you know of a REAL SIMPLE video editor (I hate movie maker)
that will let me cut out clips and that's it?

Hi Mike,
Webpage Maker doesn't add the xml, html, swfobject files, so as you said you have to add them manually. fromwhat I can see.
If you look here
you can see my files and how the structure is. this is in a folder I used for webpage maker, but it should look similar to your public_html.
which hosting service may I ask.
Oh I use AVS and Coral Video Studio. for a free one have no idea but you could google it.

if you wish to let me try your video I can just email me, (click on user)

I'm going to try one more time.....I posted the video to you tube and did the embedded thing which was great -- go back to look at it an hour later and they muted the audio because of "copywrite" silliness.
So in the myvideo folder --
I should have the skin jpg and the video file correct?
I can't get an answer on that.
the other 3 files are in the same public_html but outside that folder obviously.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
