Not Just For Video Cameras
Rememebr that Web Video Player is not just for people who have Camcorders! If you have a lowly Web Cam, then you to can use this wonderful bit of software. Just plug your device in and the programme will recognise it immediately.
Not just a web cam either. Most digital cameras also offer a feature that will allow you to shoot short video clips, usually in Mpeg or AVI format. Look in your manual or instruction book for either "shooting movies", or "shooting videos". The resulting files can be converted in VP.
Even if you don't have a web cam, then fear not, you can also import ready made video clips directly for conversion.

Having trouble with CODECS?
Here are useful resources to check out on any CODECS issues:
http://filext.com/info/showthread.php?t=1147
http://www.doom9.org/ - Good for guides on converting files to different formats and also provide codecs/apps for download.
http://www.free-codecs.com/ - Also provides codecs and software
Probably not so helpful with troubleshooting.
Anyone have any more to add, just contact me and I will put them into the list here. http://www.venicefromtheinside.com

I am a registered user of CoffeeCup Web Video Player. Is there any thought to allowing the video player to either:
1) Increase dynamically in size (via an option similar to Google Video)
2) Allow an even larger fixed size for the video player?
320x240 is a decent video size but I would prefer an XL size of 480x360 and a Super Size of 640x480.
I realize the video encoding may need to chance in order to allow these sizes to be suitably displayed but my grandma (and others in my family) has a hard time viewing family videos at 320x240 on her PC.

It's not just for people with camcorders or webcams, either. I used CoffeeCup Flash Firestarter to do the video, Audacity to do the audio, swf2avi to convert to AVI, and then Video Player to put a video on my web site. One could stop at the point where you have an AVI and put it directly on YouTube as well, which I also did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA1zVLbnBEQ
So technically, with the right tools, CoffeeCup gives you what you need to make videos. If I toss in GIMP and/or POVray for graphics work, I could technically make a complete music video entirely in animation. Actually, I'm trying to remember which song did it, but I believe Duran Duran did the first commercial all-Flash based music video.
As for the VOB question that likely belongs in another forum, check out AVS Video Tools, which has AVS Video Converter. You can go directly from .vob to .avi in one fell swoop and then yank it into Video Player, problem solved. Give me strength--at least give me a light! --Le Bon

To take video from DVD format such as VOB,FOB,or VTS, you can use an alternative program such as 123 video converter ( http://www.dvdvideotool.com/dvdconverter.htm ) or DVD FAB Decryptor ( http://www.dvdfab.com/ ). Once you have taken the avi file from the DVD, you can convert it with our software for your web site.
