Listen, It's right in front of me -- the FTP program that is built in to WVP is not working.
I disabled all of my antivirus and spyware programs and did the WVP process -- copied and pasted the html and both saved and uploaded the generated files. I
even did a clean install of CCWVP this morning and also used a sample 10 second FLV file.
Those files should have been placed in my public_html folder and here is where they ended up --
The 3 myvideoplayer files were placed in a root folder OUTSIDE of the public_html
The myvideoplayerfiles folder had just ONE file (bd.jpg) in it
The FLV file and the other files WERE NOT EVEN UPLOADED.
Yet --
i can look at the folder where they were saved on my PC and EVERYTHING IS THERE. -- all the jpegs RR FF BD etc, the FLV file, the 3 MVP files etc.
Now C'mom !
Am I the only one who has witnessed this?

So -- I uploaded the files that were saved to the PC with direct FTP and all is well.
It plays fine.
But why the problem with the internal FTP in WVP?

Mike, have you sent this information directly to CoffeeCup help? You can start a ticket with them and they may be able to help you with this issue better than we can here in the forum.
Keep in mind, we are only volunteers here, and we can't fix any software issues. Click the "Get Support" tab at the top of this page. You will see a "ask a question" link. You can view any open support tickets from the "Your Support Room" link.

www.mainsites.ca is my website, and yes, some of it is crappy.

Mike,
When I used WPM, I upload the video file with web video player as you do, with one exception I use ( /public_html ). The video folder, and the files are not uploaded with WPM so I can't see why they would be misplaced other then where it's selected to go. As for why the files are not in the folder the bd,video.flv, is unknown to me very confusing indeed. But I see no reason for you to not be able to use another ftp to place the video into the folder along with the buttons for the player manually and have it work.
Maybe there is a file size limitation in Lunarpages, I don't know. "It's A Smart Person That Asks"

Well, I finally determined that the problem I'm having is the size of my FLV file. (25mb)
I used a small sample FLV file and it played fine.
Those problems with the internal FTP though were very real -- I just used direct ftp instead and it uploaded everything correctly.
So, that brings me to another issue (question) --
The reason I went to flash video is that it's obviously becoming the standard and the file sizes are much smaller.
BUT --
When I had it on my site as an AVI (120mb) and it brought up media player, it played FINE. In fact, there was just maybe 4-5 seconds of delay and presto.
Now, as a flash it says "transferring data" and it NEVER plays.
I thought that flash was a streaming technology? That it doesn't have to download the whole file before it starts playing. ?
Once again, just to repeat -- everything is set up fine now and all is well with a smaller FLV.
And also -- my large 25mb file plays perfectly in my Riva FLV player.
I'm stumped.
Also -- it's not an issue with file size and lunarpages -- after all, I had a 120mb AVI file uploaded at one time.

The flv file size should not be an issue. I do E-Learning stuff with .flv video files often over 80 megs and they play / stream with no problems or waiting.
I have uploaded over 20 fully functional videos in the past few months with no issue.
Not all were uploaded with the CC Video Player ftp program, as I use them along side other web page content. FLV is a good format and works well. I'd really suggest trying a different file, as the one you have obviously get corrupted somehow on upload. E-Learning Specialist

Yeah, I think you're right Cliff.
Every file I have tried (FLV--WMV--AVI) has played fine offline and considering I used to have a 100mb AVI on my site, it isn't the size.
OK -- here is what I get when I simply try to LINK to the file (hoping media player will pop up).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /images/ksheavcut_WMV V9.wmv could not be found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have any idea what this is about and maybe a fix?
Thanks very much Cliff.

2 things it can be.
1 - The file was uploaded in the wrong format (ASCII for video and binary for text) Someone please correct me if I have those backwards again
2 - The file upload is corrupt (interrupted upload?)
Try (but I think you already have) converting the files again, then delete the file from your server and upload it again. That might fix it.
Also please try renaming the file with a different name. Maybe the name for the file you are using was copy/pasted from something else and has a hidden character in it that we can't see. Rename it, and use video player with the new file with the new name. Could be as simple as that. E-Learning Specialist

I'm going to assume the converted file(s) are ok as they play fine offline (used
"anyvideoconverter" -- supposed to be a good one).
I'll delete and try the upload again.
What's a better choice? AVI or WMV? or 6 to 1?
So, it must be the format? -- it says binary rather than ascii in my directftp -- I didn't even realize that there was ANYTHING other than binary data once it gets to friggin source code.
BUT I never used direct ftp to upload --
I uploaded ALWAYS with the internal ftp of these programs (CCWVP etc, webpage maker) don't they automatically transfer in the proper format? ascii?
Or is there an option for choice?

ftp programs are usually set to upload in "automatic" format, so that they choose what format to upload what files. Sometimes they get things mixed up, and some ftp programs allow you to override those settings. Usually, the CC video player gets it right, because that is what it was made to do.
If you uploaded with a different program, you might have needed to include the .flv extension somewhere in the settings to make sure it uploaded properly. I could not remember what you had used to upload the files, so I included that information as a possibility for the error. E-Learning Specialist
