that I want to take a snippet off and loop so it's not such a big file to load for visitors to the website each time.
It may not be the right forum, but can someone tell me how to take a snippet of a song?

I have to ask: Is is a video (since this is posted under Web Video Player) or an audio file. If it is an audio file, I like to use Audacity (free). For video, I use Macs, but I think Windows Movie Maker will let you edit a video clip. But it depends on the file format. Quicktime Pro ($30) might work as well.

I can thoroughly recommend Audacity as Lowell suggested. Its free, and very good and will do exactly what you want to do with your music snippet.
