Thanks Rod. I installed Linux last night. I'll play with it over the next few nights and see how things go. I'll definitely try VMWare.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

You're welcome Brian. I also added a link in my post to the download area of WMWARE.

Ubuntu is running well on this very old laptop. I went to the VMWare site and there is so much there that I don't know where to start. Can you explain a bit more about VMWare?

What VMWare does is set up a virtual computer using your operating system.

If you want to run Linux within your windows, download the Windows player.

If you want to run Windows within Linux, download the Linux player.

You will need to install the drivers (most likely, I have had to) to run Windows within Linux. It is probably best to get your geek friend to help you with this. After everything is set up, you can run the VM player within Linux, and you will see a screen appear that looks just like Windows booting because that is exactly what is happening. You can then run programs within the Windows shell, and when done, you can go back to Linux.

Add: You will have to install Windows and have a valid license key on the VMWare virtual box.

Looks like Linux is not ready for prime time with me. I'm sure if I had time to learn about it, it would be good. However, it does have its uses. I know it will do well for running some automated processes in my office, so for that I'm happy. As a development computer, I'm not ready for it.

@Brian, my primary use for Linux is to view websites that belong to clients that are having issues and to store digital assets (backups and things) that belong to others. I would not give up my Windows box, but when a website has issues, having Linux is a lifesaver for digital storage. :)

Sounds like what I'm planning to do. The little old laptop I just set up with Linux will be great for browsing the web!
