Hello everyone Merry Xmas and Happy New Years to all. I would like to start the new year right with uploading my completed site pages. But what I would need is help is trying to decide which web hosting service to use. Since there are so many with different benefits, and services and storage and of course so many different prices. Can anyone recommend or have any suggestions on a web hosting service that one, is easy to use, has many services, benefits, lots of storage but most of all has good prices. I rather here from people who have there sites up and running then from ads and info from so called best ranked web hosting sites .

Thanks to all those who reply....newbie here so please have pity :)

Johnnie,

That is a interesting question. You may get a lot of different answers.

I use 1and1, and have no problems. I like the way their controls work. I have looked at GoDaddy, and do not like their control panel, but that is just a personal preference.

I also use 1and1 shared Linux servers and have no problem with their hosting, control panel, database support, and rarely wait more than a minute before talking to someone on the phone. Love them.

I have read some bad reviews on 1and1 and can not relate at all.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

I have used hosting-canada.ca/ for the last couple of years. Very happy with the service and the price is quite good, I think. It's worth checking out and then deciding for yourself.

1&1 seems to be popular with users in this forum.

The one thing that can get overlooked with cheap web hosting is the domain name. If the hosting company registers the domain name for you, make sure to ask if YOU will be the owner of the domain name. Some cheap hosting plans may include the domain name, but THEY register it to THEM! This means you will not be able to transfer the w w w . whatever. com to any other hosting service without either their permission or a hefty fee. Just be careful and ask questions before choosing.

Another problem with some of the cheaper hosting packages is that they you have unlimited Bandwidth and it is not monitored.
Buried in the Terms and Conditions there normally a sentence saying "If we find we cannot any longer host your site blaa blaaa" This means you have reached the level they have allocated to you, which may not be that much.

I put in another digg for 1and1.com. They give you the most for your money and I've had to contact their technical service via phone several times and have always had good service from them.

I'll put in a plug for WunderSolutions in Canada - have had an account with Olaf for almost 10 years and his service is amazing. No question is too big or too small.

Very happy with him - check 'em out at www.wundersolutions.com

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I have mixed emotions about 1and1.com[my affiliate link goes here].If you want hosting cheaper than dirt, 1and1 is the best, but they seem to outsource their customer service from the planet mars. Cirtex is decent and they do ffmpeg hosting. They also offer fantasico, something 1and1 doesn't[click n' build is crap cause you can't modify the site]....

maybe I'm just in a foul mood...10 hrs, 17min since I quit smoking....
