I just looked up a French Press. I have several but only use them for tea now. We have a fairly cheap espresso A$200 De'Longhi expressos go for A$2000.
Without the Coffee expressed under pressure and at the right temperature you do not get the oils(Crema) extracted. This is the difference between the real Coffee taste and anything else. The beans have to be ground fresh and of good quality else you may as well have instant.
