Hey guys, I have two topics i'd like to speak with you about today.. the very first is my school final project..

So for school i'm building a 6-page fully responsive website, it has to have all the features. I started off yesterday with my menu, and it's going pretty good so far. The whole purpose of this website is to create an online shop. I'll be updating a subdomain from coffeecup as soon as I get it together here so you can have a look. I'd appreciate any advice along the way, as I aim to get an A on this project ;)

The second topic is mainly for Trees..

I've planted a birch tree and need any advice on how to get it growing asap. I think it's dying because the leafs on it have shribbled up and it's only been about a week. Anyone who can help with this your advice is also much appreciated.

Your school project: we can hardly be expected to give advice on something that we can't see.

Your birch tree: How tall is it, how much root is there, what kind of soil, how much sun, how much water, any fertilizer?
It is possible to drown any plant with too much water, it can also be killed by too much fertilizer. It sounds like yours has too much sun and too little shade. Or do you have an invasion of leaf-eating insects?
My experience with birch trees is that they grow willingly if left in peace. Far too many and far too fast. :P
Ha en riktig god dag!

Birch trees are not a fast grower. Don't fertilize a newly planted tree it's first year. It should be planted in soil that was amended with fertile top soil and organic materials such as peat moss so you don't burn the roots. Water throughly after planting then as often as needed to keep the soil moist but not soggy. I would call your county extension service to see what they recommend for your area.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Hey guys!! Yeah i'll update a subdomain right now and let you guys know. I'm having a problem getting the placement grey areas to disappear and i've been looking at the CSS for a while now.. you'll see the area behind the menu I want to turn transparent.
Inger, Eric, Gunsmoke.. i'll try and e-mail you all the website I don't want it public right now please.. :)

The tree is going good now that I let water "trickle" on it. I put wood chips on top so it can soak up, it gets all morning sunlight and then shade from 2pm - 7 am..

Is that ok guys? I don't really know what i'm doing just trying to keep it moist in the sunlight.

I'm truly wondering how RLM is figured into your having to do a school project to make a Responsive website? Should you not be doing this from scratch yourself to show you understand the concepts of how it's done? Using RLM totally defeats the purpose of actually learning how the code is done, unless of course your instructor has assigned you to use that program to create it with, which I'm doubting it's been around long enough to be added to any curriculum yet.

Also, just my opinion here I suppose, but being on here isn't where you should be asking questions about how to do a school assignment really. That is something you should be filling your instructor or class forums with rather than here.

It's a beginner course Jo Ann.. i'm not getting my masters yet ;)

It's CC or Dreamweaver, either one will get it done.

I understand it's a beginner course, but....

Dreamweaver doesn't build your grid system for you like RLM does, if the site you're building is supposed to be a responsive site, I'm betting that you're supposed to be building this code and not having a piece of software do it for you. There is NO benefit to you for learning the code and how it all works by using RLM for your course. You're supposed to be learning how to "do the code yourself" with the courses. By using RLM you are defeating the entire purpose of the course (disclaimer: unless the course tells you to use a Layout or Grid builder, which I'm doubting).

That was my main point Matt, other than the fact that you should be doing your own work rather than having everyone here fix the problems that you are getting while using a program you shouldn't be using for your course work. Understand what I mean here? This forum is for people having issues with the CC Software and sharing things for building websites. It's not for getting people to help you do your homework, it takes up a lot of people's time to help you with things like this that you should be learning how to do on your own.

Case in point: the exact issue you started this thread with is caused by something you did wrong in RLM. You can't fix it because you don't know how the code works (no offense meant there, just a fact). Because of this you're asking people to help you fix it when in reality.....

If you had been learning the Responsive code as you should have been (providing the course is actually worth anything), then you would know exactly what you are looking at to fix things, because you would have written the code yourself. By doing your homework with RLM, you're creating more work for not only yourself, but for everyone on the forums that has to keep answering your questions that are questions that should be in your books/course studies/etc. If they are not there, it's because you're using a tool that you should not be using and therefore the code may not be the same as what they are teaching...

I could go on forever trying to explain why you need to not do this, but in the end, you need to not use RLM for your course work and just as important, you need to utilize your class tools for help rather than the forums here when it comes to course work. That's not what these forums are for.

Well said Jo Ann! I agree 100% with what you said above and furthermore this forum is not a place to be asking about tree care either. We are all very nice people here and I sometimes feel that you are abusing the forums with questions like these and others. I also fear that you are setting a very bad example to other users that come here to seek help.

As Jo Anne said the purpose of the forums is to help with Coffeecup issues in relating to the software and not so much fixing up code for you, helping you with your projects, helping you with your homework, or working on your clients websites. What we don't like seeing is you opening up a thread and continually asking questions all the time that meander all over the place. Its of no value to anyone else but you.

By all means if you are having problems with the software or need the odd tip or two on how to do something related to the software please open a thread in the relevant forums. But be warned if it continues to roll down the road you have been on consequences may have a serious impact on your ability to post to these forums.
