The other day we went into a Turkish owned store and bought some pickled Turnips. I have never seen them before. My wife served them up grated on Avocado as an Entree and mixed into a specialty cabbage stir fry and selection of various sliced meats. Wow!
We do have a very diverse population and many cultures ply their trade. We tend to stick to the Western fair of Steak Veges and Onions etc. Maybe a sausage sizzle. But I think a venture in Vietnamese, Arabic and other cultures fair will have to be high on my agenda.

I never really took notice but in our town there are Indian, Pakistan, Chinese(Traditional), Indonesian and even a family standby MacDonald's. Norwegian(Inger would be happy), German, French but no one cooks as good as my Cath. Why would a guy stick with the same woman for nearly 47 years.

In Australia, what would various meats be made up of? At my home it could be the last seasons catch while out hunting or the latest thing to be pulled from the grill of my wife's car. I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.

Eric the meats I talk of are deli items ie Cheritsio etc, Salami's and other type sausages.

When we went to Tasmania we were shocked by the amount of road kill. Even the Koala succumbs. Eaten Kangaroo meat sausages even available in supermarkets and sometimes Crocodile in specialty stores. We do not shoot our own game although some do. I miss the Jellied Eels I used to get on Brighton Pier. Viv would know that.

All this talk of food and meat made me go whip up a 15 pound batch of venison jerky. Fridge overnight to cure then load the smoker tomorrow. I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Some time later a bunch of mice met an untimely end and they too met with St Peter who sympathized with them and asked what he could do for them. They told him that if they had skates small enough for them they could escape danger. They were given skates.

Later Still St Peter thought he would check how the latest visitors were fairing so he went to see how the cat was getting on and asked the cat if everything was to his liking. The cat told him he couldn't believe how nice it was to sleep on a comfortable cushion and having the meals on wheels sent to him was marvelous. The Guy from OZ

My friend has an Ostrich farm near by, nice steaks, very low in cholesterol, but when my wife does an omelet, our frying pan isn't big enough JoAnn need a loan, but she's put hers away for the summer.

I stopped mentioning Jellied Eels I am looked at as If I said I eat snails. haven't the heart to tell them I do If prepared correctly. A friends French wife does. Vi one thing you may be interested to know. We have the little Periwinkles on the rocks here. They are just as tasty with bread and butter but instead of the curly tails their tails are flat across. They look the same but must have evolved differently.
Same way to prepare, collect and store in sea water for an hour or two then into boiling water for 15 mins.

As most of our fishing is in the sea or estuaries the fish available is different. Eels I have caught are very tough. The Squid can be caught of piers and you can find small octopus around the rock pools. We have a rare thank God 'Blue Ringed Octopus" that's very poisonous. Eric would like the Tailor like a smaller game fish. Great to smoke. If you catch a fishing charter then you can go after Yellow fin Tuna and if you pay enough Marlin, Swordfish and the large Shark. One off putter is a small jelly fish called a blue bottle that can give a nasty sting if you brush against one in the surf. Despends on wind and tide

It took a while after emigrating to get used to the small things. The flora is so different and of course Christmas in Summer took a bit to swallow.
