Well let's just hope they are in CoffeeCup software credits. Anything other than that, such as G'kar's personal diary, I wouldn't know about :P

Whatever you're dealing with, someone else has dealt with it and much worse.

I had a new client, met to talk about her site, etc. on a Monday afternoon. Gave her a list of things I'd need to get started on the site. She called the next day (Tues am) to ask where her site was – she wanted to show it to some friends but couldn't find it online :P
Had another one call to complain he wasn't getting any interest in his site – no calls or form submissions for several months. He didn't realize changing his phone no. and email would have something to do with that :P

Over-all, I've been lucky :D

Thanks for the link Paint. HA HA ah people are funny. I also was building a Pet Shop that wanted that and another site for something he found from Canada for working dogs and hydration. Anyway I built the sites and put them up and he seemed to like them, anyway offline I was still messing with the last touches like putting it into Google Analytics ect. So he phoned me up and said Nigel I do like the sites, I really do but they not coming up on Google search :D:lol: Oh I said you have to be a little patient on that since I haven't even submitted them yet :D which I guess I should of explained to him in the first place, but he did turn out to be a decent client and I worked off an on for a few years with one thing and another.

I once had a client who wanted a site for some log cabins they were renting to people. She called me and we agreed that we should meet at her house the day after. When I arrived, she let me in and pointed to her computer and said: here, now you can create that site while I make us some coffee.

Have to add that this was back in those days when I was writing code in Notepad, but I had no images, no text, no information about their services, no idea about how she wanted it.

We ended up in some reasonable agreement, though, and I got the input I needed, and eventually their site went up.
But a year or so later she wanted an update and had asked some kid in her neighbourhood to add it. When I saw the result I called her and said I wanted my name removed from the site.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Sounds like everyone has interesting stories about web design deals..

I myself don't sell my services to anyone, I just work out of a hobby and my free time.

It's always been a hobby of mine but i'm hoping to turn it into a small business when I get a degree, other than that where i'm from web design isn't much of a business scene. Everyone here just doesn't have an interest right now. My area of CA is business on social networking such as facebook, or LinkedIn. I doubt there will be an opening for a Web Designer here anytime soon, but I don't plan on staying in my area for long after I get a degree.

Yeah strange isn't Inger how without info people expect you to work miracles. At present I'm working with a charity foundation, or should I say I'm supposed to be, I really believe in this foundation as it's funding to get drug trials for illness, however the people I'm dealing with just don't give me the info I need and it's in Wordpress, I haven't got a clue about Wordpress, I've told them treat me like an idiot as regards that until I pick it up.

I would say it's mainly a hobby for me too Matt, I pick clients up here and there, but first and foremost a hobby. To be quite honest I was a programmer first and couldn't design for toffee, but I've improved over the last few years that way, or at least I think I have :P but there are better programs as well to aid us.
Could you not pick up clients and stuff where you live so it's done online? I've done that, I don't think it's as good as actually seeing a person but beggars can't be choosers

Yeah I know what you mean,

I just don't feel i'm at the level yet to be selling my services..

I can read CSS3, and HTML 5 and know what it does, but when it comes to writing code from scratch I have writers block.

I know what you're thinking, just use the programs do the work for you, but I want to write from scratch. I feel that if you invest enough time and energy into your designs and build a rep for having some bad ass websites you can accomplish anything.
With the change to responsive design, everything that i've learned has basically been altered once again, and now I have to change with the tide.
But i'm not at that level yet, I just read code right now, not write code. :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
