Best file type for YouTube video?

The video I need to upload is an MP4 file with sound (8116kb).
YouTube file choices are: MOV, MPEG4, AVI, WMV, MPEGS, FLV, 3GPP, WebM.
Any idea which of these I should go with (should be pretty high quality)?

I don't think it's going to matter that much. Aspect ratio is important.
This may help you decide.

Most of that was clear as mud. :P
I don't know what they mean by Container .MP4 (and .MP4 isn't on the list of types to upload).
Too bad, it looks great as is.

Youtube will encode your video at upload.
MP4 is a container method of storage and MPEG4 is the compression type used to encode your video and audio.
Maybe this will help you choose. I would try a couple and see what you get if quality is really important.

From your link:
. It’s stated by YouTube that MP4 is the best format to use.

Funny that YouTube doesn't include MP4s on their list of accepted files. I've just been reading through all sorts of stuff about how to convert MP4s for YouTube, but it seems it might work as is?

I typically use MP4 but as I stated before I think the aspect ratio will be the most important.
Is it a HD video?

I don't know if it's HD or not. It was filmed by YP (Yellow Pages) for the client's ad account with them. I could get the embed code from their site, but the sound is messed up and it's a Flash file. :P
Anyway, I went ahead and hit upload and it worked!...http://youtu.be/xj8J9C2a-m8

Now for the fun part.... getting it "responsified".
I've been wanting to give this a try: http://embedresponsively.com/

Thanks for the links/info :D

Why don't you just upload the MP4 to your server and use any of the responsive sliders available to show it?

 Now you tell me....
I would prefer not to have it on YouTube, and the quality isn't the same (not as good).
So, it would go in a slide show, with any speed, fade, etc. turned off?
Do I also need WebM and Ogg versions?

What would the HTML look like? Something like this... <video src="mymovie.mp4">movie</video>???

Just remember that using the HTML5 video tag does not mean that this video will play on any system. Because you are using mp4, must people would need to have QuickTime to see it. This is why most people use a wrapper.

YouTube and Vimeo are good services but you could also use something like http://www.jwplayer.com/learn-more/
