I would like to see a Product Database that would be something like an amalgamation of Shopping Cart and Website Search but would not actually sell the Products online.
The target output could be for something like cars or property (real estate), however this kind of database has unlimited uses for things like trades people, attractions, events etc. etc. Maybe this database could be used to feed data to Shopping Cart creations?
The developer adds the Products to the database and uploads the files as normal to the server.
The website viewer can then search those Products by variables set by the developer.
A results page would open with picture, info & price which could link to the full product info.
An example of this kind of database / search facility would be something like www.autotrader.co.uk.

That is EXACTLY what I want also.
This would be handy!

yeh i agree this would be handy as i too have a client site that does not need to connect to paypal but be able to browse an online database/catalogue and then send off a request to the site manager.
What i would love is that this could be embedded into an existing HTML often complex design.

This would also work for me. I am dealing with a furniture store website right now that only want to show the product and have the customers contact them for info on the purchase.
So basically a SCC without the cart system, that probably would benefit a lot of people, and since it's already setup in the shopping cart, maybe it's not hard to pull from there and just not include the Paypal and Monetary aspects and just keep the product end of it? Sounds like a great idea to me.

I just got a reply from Scott saying it'd be hard and too much to tackle right now (maybe in the future?). But anyway, does anyone have any leads as to who might have a template for such a product database? (for a fee or free?)
