Below is a question I put to Coffee Cup support, but their offices are closed for the holidays, so I thought I would give this friendly forum a try.

I have a quite a lot of fonts installed in my system and the "CSS Font Designer" takes a long time to open the dialogue box. Can I point StyleSheet Maker to a directory where I have copied only the fonts I would like to make available to StyleSheet Maker?

The benefits would be twofold: this will speed up loading the StyleSheet Maker Font Designer dialogue box, and because this directory would include just standard web fonts our visitors would avoid any problems displaying the text on our pages.

If that it not possible, maybe you could add some radio buttons to the Font Family portion of the dialogue box to select standard font families plus a radio button for 'custom font family' which, when selected, would load the entire font list. This would avoid long load times until you needed the long list. Now that I have typed this, I think this might be a preferred solution.

Thanks! BTW, I dig all the Coffee Cup the software. You guys make it easy for me to look like I actually know what I'm doing!

Follow up -

BTW - I did find the "Generic" list, but that does not avoid the long load times, which is the reason for my post.

A better solution would be to create the fonts you want and save them to the style sheet font directory. Then when you export it everything will be there.

Thank you for your reply. Pardon my noob-i-ness, but would that speed up the load time of the dialogue box for font design when I am designing the CSS - in other words, while I am using the StyleSheet Creator program? My finished pages load just fine, it is within the design program (StyleSheet Maker) where I am getting a little annoyed. Every time I want to define a tag and open the Font Design dialogue, the font design window takes several seconds to open because it is indexing several thousand fonts in the system.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
