I am trying to add a Contact and FAQ button on the navigation bar. In SCC I add them to the catagories, then it automatically drops down under the Home button in the navigation bar. I managed to get the Contact button fixxed but am still having problems with the FAQ button.

Is this something I need to adjust in SCDP?

Here is a link to view the problem.. http://www.ozarkmountainscreenprinting.com/html/mgpanthergear/

Thanks,

Doug

Pages created in SCC are automatically placed under the Shop Home menu link as sub-menu items. These cannot be moved to the navigation menu as primary links.

I just think that is the strangest thing. Why in the world does it default to a drop down menu under the home link. ugghhh. :D

Doug...
Don't want to derail the topic...but it looks as if you have the much sought after "sub categories". How did you do that? I have been looking for that answer for a while. I use SCD pro and SCC.
I have only seen that it will be available when the SCC pro version is released in 2011 or 12. See link below

Thanks.

I think what you are seeing is the normal drop down menu from the Categories option, with Categories being renamed to Panther Gear.

My understanding is there will eventually be an option to further subdivide each of those categories into another level of categories.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

I'm actually curious about that menu myself too. At a glance when looking at the drop down menu it's not apparent, but click the categories button on the menu where it then shows all the categories, that is definitely a subcategoried look to me. Are you doing this with the Pro beta Doug? Because the Basic doesn't even have that feature, and the Pro isn't released for live shops yet so if that's the case you might be jumping ahead of yourself there .... what's the scoop?

Dunno, we've all wondered if it will ever allow us to add our own buttons to it, hopefully a future release in Pro version will do this for us, I guess we'll see in the future.

He renamed Categories to Panther Gear from within SCC. I didn't realize those headings could be edited, either. He also renamed Shop Home to Home. To add the Contact link he selected the "Use Pages tool and enter my own content" option under the Homepage (Optional) setting of Your Shop settings (and renamed Home to Contact). Capisci?

If that were all the case BookPublisher I would agree, but not all of that is capable in the Basic Version which is why I ask about it. Categories are definitely used with Subcategories which aren't a possibility in the Basic version even, and I don't think you can rename the menu buttons in the basic version either but I'll check on that.

I'm just concerned if he's using the beta of the Pro that he may be setting himself up for a mess to clean up later if it changes in any major ways before release is all.

It's all possible to do with the basic version of SCC. After viewing his site, I learned a couple of things and experimented with my own. First, I didn't know the Pages and Menu titles could be renamed simply by double-clicking the title. Secondly, he was creative in setting up a Contact page (which appears as a menu item and not a sub-menu) by adjusting the Homepage (Optional) setting to "Use Pages tool and enter my own content." He essentially added a sixth custom page. The only problem with that is the Contact page's URL ends with "home.php." Perhaps I would learn more about SCC if I would just RTFM.
