No worries — the Shopping Cart software is still very much on our radar screen. We love our products and customers equally, we just can't do everything at the same time ;)

The good news is that our products are growing closer to each other, making updates to several products at the same time a bit faster. The digital downloads for example we plan to add to Shopping Cart Creator and Web Form Builder. Both products will also get discount / coupon code options.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the assurances. It just seems like it's been a long time that many of us have been waiting for the virtual product capability of SCC Pro (as well as discount/coupon code options). I like SCC Pro for its simplicity. As for myself, I sell fewer than a dozen books and SCC Pro has worked well. The more powerful shopping carts available can be very time consuming to initially set up.

Hopefully the new version, when released, will meet my needs and I can continue using SCC Pro.

I have only just got this software and if payment is made to Paypal generally, you get to add a success page. Now I could be totally wrong as I have not played with it yet but if that is the case that link can also be the download link for Software, Doco etc.
As I said I have not tried it yet only what I suspect is possible. I sell software so it is high on my list of things to do. So far I have found all CC products have amazing flexibility and I am in no doubt this is the case with this ware too.

There is no success page in CC shop, it returns back to the cart page. Can't change it as far as I know. If your idea was able to be implemented then the purchaser will know where on the server the downloadable file is and I think this will make it easy for the dishonest hackers to grab it for free. I went with LinkLok as a separate secure program that returns to a page that has encrypted links to where the software is that the customer purchased. The link does not display the address. Unfortunately Linklok does not work with CC shop. It works with Paypal as a separate shop you can set up Like I have. Having two shops working with Paypal simultaneously works Ok, but customers cannot buy software as well as physical goods at the same time. They have to be bought separately. This is a reasonable work around while CC get the downloadable feature done. I just hope the links will be encrypted like they are in Linklok. Linklok is $30 but if CC is a few months away for release then it may be worth holding off. But they said they were going to do this ages ago and everyone is still waiting, so don't hold your breath.

Fair enough I still have to find out what makes the program tick.
purchaser will know where on the server the downloadable file

That is not a problem as you can send a code to the download file to release it. The folder itself can be protected. Shame I would have thought there would be a success page like thanks for buying my ware.

Well there is a success page but it belongs to CC shop and can't be changed. The customer is returned to the view cart page I think and the words saying thank-you etc etc are displayed there.

Is that in SCC? In the Pro version, you can set up a return/thanks page. PayPal requires it. You enter the URL in the account set-up in PayPal, but it can link to any page; an additional page in the Shop, or a page on another site (for example: when using VSD with SCCP).
You put the payment confirmation message and log-in link on it, but you could also add anything else you see fit. For a client's site, I made the page in VSD. It has a link to the home page and a link to the SC check-out on it.
I don't see why you couldn't put a download button there as well. ;)

Hmm! when someone says it cannot be done there is always someone who has done it. I will note that Paintbrush but I think if I get stuck I may need a hand

Wooooo! Just checking back on the progress of SCCP relative to the "digital downloads" issue. Based on the number of posts & views of this thread, it seems that Coffee Cup Software users deem this to be a VERY IMPORTANT addition to SCCP. Coffee Cup R&D, Please Take Note!!!
