Hi

Hope you have enjoyed thanksgiving!

I have 2 questions please_

1. I am trying to get rid off the white background behind the product images, other than setting the page background to white, how do I get rid of the white. see attachment.

2. Is there any way in which the user of the site has to agree to being over 18 years old before opening a page?

Many thanks.

I either increase the image the size needed to fill the white space or use a photo editing program to put a border around my image that matches the background.:) As far as the 18 years old most users place a page where you have to agree that your 18 or you get redirected. The only other way is to have users sign up then you give them access to the site that's protected with either php or htaccess.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Julie,

I have found that it doesnt matter what size the image, just as long as its square and its at least as big the product area.

you could use most image editing programs, but the last one I used was CC Web image studio, just crop the edges slightly of a rectangular image to shrink the image back to a square or what ever the shape you have designed in SCD template. eg the image is tall and narrow, but you need a square, crop a bit from either and/or the top/bottom edges. Or you can add to the narrowest side by adding a band of the same colour or pattern used in the background.

I could not resist, I agree to be over 18 years old, can i see the page please :) I guess 56 counts

I would have two versions of my website, one protected by website access manager (probably in todays sale) so they need permission to access it, my trade only site is done this way

Re the images it took me ages before a realised setting photoshop to crop images automatically to 10cm x 10cm gives perfect background and 5 perfect size images when viewed as a slide show

I am still taking new picture to replace my naff ones, but that resolved everything. (see delorean in signature for examples)

What I did (sorry shop isn't up anymore so I can't show you how it looked in the shop) was create a background image (transparent) and put a raised gold border around it (that went with my theme at the time). I then took the images of my products and placed them on that background so every image was consistent size and same image borders. Took a bit of work to do, but the results were very nice looking product images. Just make the backdrop image a bit larger than the actual product images so you can work your product images onto it without too much difficulty.

I have hijacked this thread yet again ;) its ironic JoAnn, but 40 years of making jewellery, i had to learn how to get my products onto the internet 4 years ago, when i decided to shut my shops to semi-retire.

Now i am in the process of writing websites number 5 and 6 for other people.

hopefully when this dam arthritis finally stops me making jewellery i can earn my way doing websites :)
