I do not believe I am on the "mailer plan" but Responsive Email Designer 2.0 for Win and OS X is on my download list.

I did purchase Red Personal 1.3 quite a while ago.

Is the mailer plan something I will be charged for?

Anyone that has ever been on the Mailer plan at some point, has access to the installer. Responsive Email Designer 2.0 is currently in beta and complimentary with all of our customers who are CURRENTLY on the Mailer plan.

Since you are on the FREE plan now Mike, if you want to test version 2.0, you need to upgrade again to the Mailer plan. You can do that here at https://www.coffeecup.com/store/specials/mailer/

As RED 2.0 comes out of beta, more details on all your upgrade options will be made available.

Hi Scott, No you did not get anything wrong:| The hosting you provide is well set up for coffeecup software. What I like about your software in general, is the ability to export the files to another server. I use the form designer a lot. as well as the HTML editor. Your hosting plan is not for me as I use CMS a lot these days and require MSQL databases for my form results and the ability to export databases to things like google sheets. Your limits on form results per plan don't work for me and you do not have email servers with your hosting I could go on...Back to RED

I thought that the personal RED would behave somewhat like the form designer, and it does regarding exporting files. The improvements to V2 are very good But here is the rub, To use the new version I have to sign up to a stand alone hosting just for RED in addition to my hosting plans either with you or else ware. By using the RED mailer hosting it makes it simple to store images and send a single bespoke email or flyer.
If I wish to run a campaign I need to export to someone like MailChimp, who I use anyway, Can't quite see the point of having campaign settings on RED as they can not be used even when using the RED mailer plan.
As you say RED is design software, not email software, so what's with the subscription/hosting? I would rather you create a great bit of software as you have in the past that takes away the need for hand coding. I would be happy to pay for a licence to use such software if it does what says on the tin!
Hosting? well, No.
Wishing you and you family a great Christmas.

I can tell you why I subscribe. The primary reason is that email programs are constantly changing. By being subscribed, I always know that my RED will always be generating script that has the latest enhancements for the various email software out there.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

So is the business version going to be consolidated into RED 2, or will there be a separate release?

I can't say I'm enthusiastic about being chained to an upgrade treadmill. The "continuous release" model that companies are going to usually means we wind up with something that is never stable or actually works right and that we suffer a water torture of changes interfering with our workflow. With the "big release" model at least we can have a product with flaws that we learn how to work around, and we can control when we undergo the hassle of moving from one version to the next (even if we don't have to install the updates immediately, usually the first thing you're forced to do during a support incident is upgrade).

As stated a few times Erik, as RED 2.0 comes out of beta, more details on all your upgrade options will be made available. Please be patient! :)

But yes, the Personal and Business versions will be merged into one program moving forward. That is actually a good thing. ;)

I agree with the sentiments expressed by the other folks in this string.
Coffee Cup makes some awesome software that all fits together and works well together.
However, as a South African pensioner I cannot commit to a "subscription" based relationship - I buy what I can when I can and it works well like that. That way I know I can afford an upgrade or I cannot.
Subscriptions quickly become shackles as prices/exchange rates rise.
Please consider an option "B" as there was with the earlier RED releases.
Thanks
Nick

In this case, the "continuous release" model keeps users from having unstable software.

Email software such as outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple mail as well as email services such as Gmail, Yahoo mail and Outlook.com each have their own unique requirements for email scripts. In addition, any one of these software or services can change their scripting requirements at any time regardless of the others.

CC has to make frequent updates to the email generation script to make sure that the emails created by RED meet the requirements of all the different email software and services.

If CC sold RED as only a standalone piece of software, then your email generation script would be no good as soon as one of the email software or services made changes.

The CC subscription allows us as RED users to always be updated for all these changes that occur with email software and/or email services on a frequent basis. Updating the software is an ongoing task; therefore, for RED, a subscription makes sense.

Hi Brian
What you propose is obviously the ideal way to go and is great for those that can afford it.
However, there is the question of ongoing affordability for some developers particularly those doing it parttime, but it appears that is an alien world to you and no consideration seems to have been given to an option for "periodic updates", even at a price, that could be taken when afforded. There is a downside to this, but the developer would have to accept that.as the trade-off.

Hi, the new version just crashes for me straight away, it says
c:\Program Files\Coffee Cup Software\Responsive Email Designer\Responsive Email Designer.exe is not a valid win32 application.

I am still using Windows XP (sp3) which worked fine for the old version.

Have you dropped windows xp support in version 2.x?

I know its old but I only actually use XP for RED and one other piece of software! (for everything else I use Linux)

Why are you still using XP!! :)

Officially we no longer provide any support for Windows XP as this operating system was discontinued by Microsoft on April 8th 2014. We understand that many people may disagree with Microsoft's decision on this, but we simply cannot invest time/resources into an operating system that Microsoft has discontinued.

For more information on End of Life support for Windows XP, please see http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ … pport.aspx
