Poor image quality

Hi,

I am trying to set up a simple photography gallery but have found that Photo Gallery is creating images with jagged edges in it i.e. only a basic resize algorithm is being used.

I would like Photo Gallery to resize the photos when I import them to fit precisely in the image view area so that Flash doesn't need to resize them.

I know Photo Gallery can resize images to some preset sizes but this doesn't relate to the problem I am having.

Does anyone know if this issue can be fixed? Or is this just how Photo Gallery always displays images?

Thanks,
Ed.

Hiya Eddie,

Give EzThumbs a try and see if that does it for you. You can use it to resize in bulk to whatever size you want and then you don't have to have photo gallery resize them for you. This program does a pretty good quality job of resizing (as well as a few other features it does) and it's completely free and save. You can get that here:

Good luck on your gallery, fun stuff! :) Jo Ann

Thank you for your response. I have software that can resize images well however the problem is that no matter what size the images are Photo Gallery always displays them with jagged edges.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Ed.

Hi David,

Here is the link http://www.chasethelight.com.au/temp/photogallery.html

I have tried putting in images that are smaller and larger than the displayed images but the problem remains.

The first three images show jagged edges which are not present when you click on the image and view the original.

I am unsure if I am doing something wrong. I wanted to add photos that were larger than the ones in the gallery so that if people clicked on am image they would get a larger image. I thought Photo Gallery would create two images per photo - one thumbnail and one to fit the gallery view however it doesn't do the second one and I think it allows flash to resize it.

Thanks,

Ed.

This is strange, I've never seen this before, but then again I've never done a slide show that big. I suggest a opening a support ticket and get the experts tackle this one with you.

Hi Eddie,

The first thing I see is that the images in the gallery are bigger stretched bigger then the original image. When you increase scale an image, you're going to see pixelation (jagged edges). The only way to eliminate that is if the aspect ratio of the image in the gallery is identical to that of the original image. This way the scaling doesn't effect the pixels in the image.

Hmm..I am having the exact same problem. And get this tasty nugget...I get jagged edges even if I DON'T resize anything. If I choose 'No Resize' when I import, everything still looks like bunk. What is up?

Can you open a support ticket for this and send us a few of the images so we can run a few tests?
