Hi, I only just downloaded Photo Gallery and haven't had the opportunity to test it more than cursorily yet. But there's one thing I wonder that I haven't found in the help pdf or this forum. I wonder, is it possible for people to copy pictures from my gallery, by right-clicking and selecting Save image as? And if so, is there a feature to add a copyright watermark to photos? Or do I photoshop in a copyright text before uploading them?

TIA
Jennifer

Yes they can get the images by clicking on the image then right click save as. There's no full proof way to protect images except to not put them on the net. Next best thing is to put water marks over them.:) I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.

You could put a no right click script on the site, but that only helps with people that do not know much about Web Design. WaterMarking the Photo is the only real way to stop someone from getting it. "An Apple doth not fall far from its tree, yet an orange does."

The PG being Flash-based, you can not right-click and save directly from the image in the gallery.
You can prevent the image from being opened in a new window, where it can be right-clicked and saved, by checking "Image Protection" under 'Gallery Settings' > 'Other Options'. (see pg. 20 in the pdf help file)
Of course, this only makes it a bit more difficult to download the images. The base rule still applies, that anything published on the web can be downloaded. Per

Pretty much yes it can be found even with protecting it in the PG program. The XML file shows all the pathways to all the images in your gallery so anyone with any knowledge of what files to look in will still be able to find your files and images. It does keep at least "some" of the thieves at bay though.

I like to add my own copyright statement by inserting it into the JPG files. I'm told that Photoshop does this automatically, but I use Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) which also lets me edit the EXIF (header) area. It's like a hidden watermark.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
