I am trying to use my Coffee Cup Flash Gallery as a header in my Joomla website. I installed the The Joomla Flash Module but don't know what settings to enter to make it work. If anyone know how to do this please let me know.
Thanks, Ann

Well see the modules in Joomla don't apply to this Flash Gallery really. Depending of course on the theme you are using you should be able to create a module, and use that module to place your photo gallery into without too much difficulty by placing the module in the Header area. Your header area does need to be able to be sized to accomodate a gallery though which not a lot of Joomla Templates are. The CoffeeCup Photo Gallery is a gallery all it's own though and doesn't really need outside flash modules to make it work. That module is for basically creating the gallery within the module completely rather than using one created by CC software. Hope that makes sense :) Jo Ann

Although wrapper will make it work

this is not the best route

lemme school ya real quick..

the idea of joomla is to be able to have a nice website thats easy to maintain
and to have everything under one roof.

You are going to find my next statement shocking
using coffee cups gallery inside Joomla is the NOT best route to go

Dont get me wrong I love Coffee Cup but Joomla needs something a little more integrated when it comes to a gallery ..otherwise your gonna end up with ten different logins for 10 different galleries and creating links to these is a nightmare.

I would consider myself a Joomla "Expert" as I have build dozens of Joomla sites and even working on a Joomla only project now that handles about 12,000+ users.
I am employed professionaly by a publication company to handle all of their websites. my current employer that I work way too many hours for has large 5 websites..all joomla.

So....if your using Joomla 1.5 or higher
(current is 1.5.15 i think)

then download and install this gallery
http://www.phoca.cz/

its 100% free
and it works flawlessly AND integrates into the joomla system as it is not a standalone product.

I have built some extremely comprehensive galleries with this component.

all of the galleries are 100000% maintainable from the joomla panel, and are either updated on the front end by the owner, on the back end via the media manager or even by ftp.

image popup can be displayed in at least 10 different ways.
do yourself a favor and make your life easy.

each image is able to also be displayed in a content article

I spent months looking for a fast easy gallery that would plug into Joomla directly as I work with many clients who require image galleries.

I found only 2 in the entire Joomla world that were worth a dam

Phoca Gallery
and SimGallery (simgallery cost about 150.00 and aint all that great)

Phoca is my choice and its free

here is a link to one example
http://www.cabaretdesigners.com/index.p … p;Itemid=3

but to answer your question
to have it display properly

select your menu
select a new menu item
select wrapper
enter in the size of the gallery in pixels and choose if you want scroll bars
type in the URL to your flash gallery
save menu item

click preview

this is not something that is in sections or categorys wrapper is standalone

all wrapper does is takes and eternal page that is not in the joomla system or file structure and displays in inside and iframe in the joomla body.

this method is the same for any coffecup item..I use Coffee Cup exclusively for my forms.
and they are displayed using the wrapper function.

and also flash gallery will not display in a module without custom flash code
you can use the flash module for Joomla and it might work wihtout custom code

inside the flash module settings you must define the path to the gallery
as / and the file name of the swf
(additionally your files must be uploaded to the root directory, NOT in a folder)
and again this just cause organization problems

the only control you will have over this is to have it published on an existing page as you cannot create button to module, only to pages..so you would still have to have a page and an article to display the module on..so doing it this way is backwards.

as you would be calling a page just ot display a module when you could just use wrapper..or better yet use Phoca and have it all integrated.

if you like pm me your links and I can look at your site.

Actually CC Photo Gallery works seemlessly with Joomla, I used it for 3 different galleries and once you get the idea of how it needs to be setup it's pretty simple to do.

Teiroboy your gallery folder with all your main gallery stuff has to be inside the root folder not inside the theme folder, that's the part that's messing up your photos not showing up. Nothing needs to go into the theme folder itself, all into the root folder of your site. Give that a try and see. Other than that it sounds like you have it set to go. Creating a wrapper and setting up the category and all that is so easy to do and you need to do it for so many things that it gets to be second nature after a while. Once you have that it's all just inserting the code into an article in the HTML area of the articles and that's it. Jo Ann

@ wolverana

not to try to start an argument

but CC Flash gallery does not integrate with Joomla
it may DISPLAY in joomla using wrapper function or in a module using
flash module.

it is a totally stand alone product with its own login and has no capability to be integrated into joomla content.

you will have to carry 2 logins and when you update your site, you will have to use a separate login from joomla and different processs to update the flash gallery.

and there is even a remote chance that Joomla and your browser will cache the old flash gallery and changes wont always be visible unless you clear the cache manually.
(this is a problem with many flash applications vs flash version and brwoser verison since 93.4% of the internet has no clue how to keep their system runningthe latest greatest ...again...you limit yourself)

its kinda bass ackwards to use a cms system then want to use another product with its own login and file structure.
when thats what the CMS was designed for.

you limit yourself and defeat the purpose of CMS
(and create more work)

just make your life easy

CC Flash Gallery is great for sites that dont use Joomla
as it integrate well into an iframe or as a stand alone page.

but if your gonna use the best CMS on the web , then why not use the best image gallery as well?
Phoca by far has everyone beat hands down...oh and did I mention that its FREE!

check out their demo
http://www.phoca.cz/demo/

the items in red on the left are different style of galleries that can be setup.

SimGallery gets an honorable mention and I do use that one (although it is 150.00)
it has some unique functions that are an almost an exact clone of Facebooks gallery..it has tagging features which are very nifty if you are running a community (CB or JomSocial)

however I limit SimG only to my community sites
it really has no other use to me.

For a straight out easy to use gallery ...Phoca by far.

trust me I have tried them all as I used 4images for years, but when I switch all of my development over to joomla I need an internal replacement..

I hunted posted and searched for months for a gallery that had/did everything

and spent tons of money....on just about every gallery on the Joomla site and about 20 standalone flash or php galleries,
from CCFG to ones I picked up on FlashDen

none of them compare..it even beats the coppermine bridge
