Hi there, I was looking to build a site that would allow entry of seperate customers, with each customer having unique name, address, phone, and item serial number when registering. I also want to be able to make sure they pay for registration prior to being entered in the database.
If possible I would like to have RSS and email alerts sent out on certain events. There are many more little things I would like to add, but this is the "meat" of what I want to do and I was wondering if Coffee Cup has the capability to create such a site?
Thanks for any advice and from what I have seen thus far, I really like the potential!

Kyle,
You can use the CoffeeCup RSS flash reader to create your feed.
You can build a page to accept payment and when you complete that page get linked to a form with all the information you want added to a database.
I don't know about email alerts, but maybe some of the others here will know how that is done. Bill R.

Thanks Bill, I went ahead and jumped in all the way and got the entire package and have started playing around. I am getting there on design, but am a long way from figuring out the functionality of "member sign in" and having "member specific accounts", but hopefully after a little research and maybe some help from the forums I can figure this out.
When I describe what I want to do, it is easy to say and describe, but making it work seems like it will be a real challenge (for me at least). I would just like to give it a real shot before paying some firm to develop what I need!

Kyle,
Sorry, but I did not see any mention of "member sign in" in your first post.
CoffeeCup has two programs that you may want to check for use as sign-in control. The Web Access Manager can set up security on folders, and only allow those that sign in to have access to those folders. The Password manager is another program, that has sign in features, but I have never used that program, so I can't say how it works. Bill R.

I think one problem might be I don't believe either program has provision for users registering and creating their own id and password and such. Everything has to be done centrally by the web master and uploaded, then you tell the user what their login info will be.

Spinny is correct. None of the coffeecup programs will create the sign in section for you. You would need a custom php form (and database for your site), or maybe if you're real lucky, the web host will have some tool to let you produce that section...but don't hold your breath.
A sign-up sheet that lets users choose their own username or password program would be real nice to have (hint hint CoffeeCup). E-Learning Specialist
www.mainsites.ca is my website, and yes, some of it is crappy.

I know, I am looking at the options for hosting and making that one of my considerations. I may have to just give in and have the site done professionally, although I hate to do that. I just want to make sure I know how to maintain, and solve any issues that may arrise.
I asked my uncle who dose database work for the state, and he was talking about html, xsl, css talking to asp, php, jsp or xslt which was linked to my sql or mssql and I was just sol, because I had no idea what he was talking about! But I will try for a while longer and if nothing else, get the design how I want it to look and then have a pro make it functional!

Kyle, When looking at hosts, make sure you have php enabled, with mySQL databases. Forget about free hosting accounts (as they are often quite limited), but there are many inexpensive and reliable options out there. With those in place, you can grow the site at your own pace. Designing a Content Management System (where you can control the content of the site) almost has to be integrated into the site's design, as well as the login bits, from the beginning.
Melanie I love the CC HTML Editor as a color-coded assistant when writing code. And the snippets feature is incredibly helpful to store snippets of code I use over and over.

Kyle,
For a complete login system with all the bells and whistles (maybe), I did a search with Google, and found something called Login System V2.0. It is PHP and although I have not had the time to look at it, it appears to be something that will do what you want.
This thing is several years old, but here is the link:
