The RSS that flash blogger generates is invalid. Is there any way to change the format of the RSS that flash blogger generates?

Hi

The RSS may flag some invalid entires because of the format we use. There is no real reason however to validate it as it is designed to be used only with our software.

I don't understand why CoffeeCup would make a program that generates an RSS file which nothing else can pick up, since it is invalid. What is the purpose of having an RSS file that only CoffeeCup software can work with?

Hi

The main reason was it was never intended to be used in that manner. However, it will still work.

My original question was:
The RSS that flash blogger generates is invalid. Is there any way to change the format of the RSS that flash blogger generates?

The first response was:
The RSS may flag some invalid entires because of the format we use. There is no real reason however to validate it as it is designed to be used only with our software.

So then I asked again:
I don't understand why CoffeeCup would make a program that generates an RSS file which nothing else can pick up, since it is invalid. What is the purpose of having an RSS file that only CoffeeCup software can work with?

To which the response was:
The main reason was it was never intended to be used in that manner. However, it will still work.

So then I have to repeat my question. What, pray tell me, will the RSS work for? What, pray tell me, is the purpose in having an RSS file that only works with CoffeeCup software?

CoffeeCup Flash Blogger is designed for you to have your own Blog on your Website. The xml file that is saved is used by the Flash program. It is not meant to be syndicated to anyone else.

The answer to my question:

I should like to point out that the entire purpose for having RSS is nullified by not being able to syndicate it. In fact, what does RSS stand for? It is for the purpose of PUBLISHING content. Making it so that it can't be read is akin to publishing a book that only the author can read.

After all RSS stands for " Real Simple Syndication" and not for "Real Secret Snaffoo" :) Alfred

Hi

We don't mention anywhere in our description of Flash Blogger that there is an RSS file and that it can be syndicated. We do generate an XML file that we use internally. We could rename the saved file and call it .TXT if that would eleviate confusion.

I assumed that the xml file had a RSS declaration in it. As allways, assuming got me again :o
I do think Mark does have a point, it would be nice if the xml would be a RSS 0.91 compatible so one could syndicate the blog. Are there any copyrights on RSS? Alfred
