I am using the VSD and have been having a good time with it. (imaking a simple website for a guild of gamers. One of the things I want to add is the RSS news feed from the developer of the game.

It works, updates properly and all is well, except RSS NEWS FLASH wants to use it's own background color, even though I set the transparency to 100% (also tried 0%) I watched the youtube videos, however the speaker doesn't go in to detail on the transparency. She simply decided to leave it as is.

I would really like it if the news feeder background was truly translucent and match my site versus have it just one color, a gradient, or a picture.. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong. Thanks all for your kind help

My test area is www.unitedtreason.com/test
Please note that I changed the rss news feed background to 50% transparency, so that at least some of it should show through, however as you see, its background is completely white.

Hey Paul,

I remember reading somewhere else that transparency in Visual doesn't work if pictures overlap. Have you tried that option, maybe?

RSS transparency defaults to white. It has no transparency, CC is working on the problem. The philosopher has not done philosophy until he has acted upon the mere conviction of his idea; for proof of the theory is in the act, not the idea.

The use of transparency is incorrectly described in the Help file, as-follows:

"Transparency - You can make the Blog transparent so the background of your webpage shows through."

There are two things to note here:
    1) The "Blog" reference suggests that CC borrowed heavily from the CC Flash Blogger documentation when creating the help file for the RSS NewsFlash. There's a lot of similarity between the two applications - so much so, that one appears to be basically an offshoot of the other.
    2) The description is simply incorrect. The background color or image of the web page will not show through the way the app is currently written. What appears in the background of the feed window is determined by your selections in the Designer tab.

The background of the feed window is controlled by the Style parameter, which can be set to a Solid color, Gradient or an Image.

The transparency control affects the opacity of the Transition Color, which acts as a colored overlay with adjustable translucency on top of the feed window background.

As an example, assume that you have selected an image to be the background of your feed window. If the Transition Color is set to white and Transparency is set to 0, the background appears to be white, because your background image is totally blocked. If you change Transparency to 50%, the background image will appear 'milky', because it's being viewed through a translucent mask. Setting Transparency to 100% will allow the background image to be displayed as if there were nothing in front of it.

Again, note that all occurrences of the term "background" in this post refer to the specified background of the feed window, not the background image of the web page in which it appears.
