Is anyone running NewsFlash on a Windows server with PHP installed? I am, and it is not working; at least it is not showing up on the page, although a rightclick on the area does recognize there is a flash file running there. Just that nothing shows up. Running on Windows server 2003, with PHP 5.04 installed. When I remote desktop connect to the server, go to the file, and double click it, it opens fine and everything works. Which makes me think that PHP is installed properly. Have gone through 27 pages of PHP manual completely and thoroughly, and can't see where there are any issues with the installation. But somewhere along the way there is something that prevents it from showing in the browser, whether IE or Firefox. Anyone running NewsFlash on a Windows server who has any idea where I should start looking, please let me know. The Coffee Cup people have limited experience with Windows servers, and suggested somebody on this forum might have a clue what is wrong.

The reason could be that you are running PHP v5.04. The way global variables are used in 5.04 has changed from the way they where in 4.xx and many scripts written before PHP 5 will not work correctly. I had 5.04 on my test server and had to get rid of it since many scrips would simply not run without changing the vartiables, most servers still run v.4.3.1 Alfred

Thanks for the response; will check into that further. However I'm wondering if it is a PHP problem, because the item does run properly on the remote desktop--it just doesn't run through the web server. Makes me think that PHP appears to be doing it's job properly, and maybe it's a question of the webserver running into a problem processing the request. Just have no idea what that webserver problem may be.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. Lots of time wasted checking everything in site! And failed to spot that my flash download was coming up for expiry :eek: Re-downloaded flash and everything worked fine.

Also if you have the CoffeeCup Newsflash, check you have the latest version, with the latest bug fixes.

I believe that it is not a PHP problem but an issue with IIS 6.0 running on Server 2003. My hosting service (Webstrike) uses this platform and nothing we can do with Newsflash works, it just leaves an empty space where the newsfeed should be running. Funny, but when this was offered for sale, I don't remember anything about not being supported on IIS. I have run this from my private network which uses IIS 5.0 and Server 2000 without any problems, and have also tried it on a different IIS 6.0 machine at work, which also failed.

Anyone else run into a similar problem?

I've gor a similar problem I've built a site in dreamweaver and It won't show the news feed either and I don't have it running through a server yet, I can run the swf file fine and it works, but not when I add it to my web page ad try to disply it in a browser, I accidentlu got it to work once but have no idea what I did. Also I'm having trouble getting to swf to size properly .

I guess my question is, "Is CoffeeCup going to do anything about this, or are we all just plain out of luck?" This is the first product of theirs that I have purchased that did not work; so I don't know what happends next. All of my websites are at Webstrike and on Windows and the product does not run on any of them. As it stands, buying this product was a complete waste of my money. I'm not a very happy camper at the moment.

Good question Barry. I emailed them last week after Charles posted his response and told them the ball is now in their court to fix the problem, since it seems to be a problem with IIS 6 compatibility. Have not had a response from them. Told them I either need a fix or a refund.

I agree Dick. I'd hate to get a refund, since I really want the product, but if it doesn't work on the sytems I use I need to start looking elsewhare for a replacement and I need the funds returned so I can do so. Hopefully they will get this thing running real soon and we can all put this in the past.

I saw your post in the Forums. I have talked with other people who have IIS installed and from what I hear they seem to have it working without any issues.

I responded that I'm not interested in a refund, since I don't want/need the other software but bought this offer specifically for NewsFlash. Asked him to put the other people who are not having problems with IIS6 in touch with me so I can see what they are doing differently. Haven't heard back as of now. I also told them I have a very skilled technical colleague who has offered to fix the problem--for a price, of course. He figures it can't be that difficult for someone who knows IIS6. They haven't taken him up on that offer. I can only hope that they are continuing to look at the problem to fix it.
