I used the flash menu builder to design a horizontal menu for the top of my web pages. The menu buttons work, but only after you have visited a page via mouseover of one of the picture links on the home page, (http://dynamicspectrumphotography.com/home.html) . If you visit a page via a direct link ( http://dynamicspectrumphotography.com/id4.html) the buttons won't work at all. I've checked this out on three different computers and also had my son check it on his computers with the same results.

I'm using windows Vista home and the latest registered version of the software. and the problem occurs every time on all computers that I have tried.

I checked the links in my post just to verify their validity and found that the buttons worked so I went back and tried it directly from my computers to see if they worked from the computers. They still don't. If you want to see the problem, you may have to type the url directly into the address bar.

My site is set up with a entroducion page www.dynamicspectrumphotography.com (the index) that opens to the home page by clicking on the center picture.

Mustafa,

I just clicked on http://dynamicspectrumphotography.com/id4.html and the links worked. Did you change something to get things working properly? Bill R.

try typing the url directly into the address bar and see if it still works. I don't know why it works from the link, but it won't work when the address is typed directly in

BillR try typing www.dynamicspectrumphotography.com into your address bar. Then click on the center picture to enter the site. See if the buttons work then

Thanks for the help

Mustafa,

I don't know what is causing that effect, but your site will put a browser in quirks mode. Try validating your code and fixing any errors to see if that will clear up the problem. Bill R.

Okay, I'm completly self taught (by reading books) a 65 year old photographer, who designed a sight to display pictures. I use a book titled "Teach Yourself HTML Visually" by, IDG books and Coffee Cup Software (Photo Gallery, Direct FTP, Menu Maker etc) and build pages using my hosting services text editor. I'm quite sure my coding is quite sloppy since I don't use CSS or templates or even DHtML. So how do I "validate" my code?

Sorry, one of your posts referred to valid CSS code, so I thought you knew that.

Here is the link to validate HTML code: http://validator.w3.org/

Bill,
Thanks a lot, no I often get responses where people think I know more than I (really) do. I guess it's because I'm pretty well read, God blessed me with the ability to get a good understaning from reading books and advancing my self so all the credit goes to God. I just checked the "view source" on that website and saw the W3C and CSS references. I (wrongly) assumed that it was a casscading style sheet.

Here is one thing that really puzzels me: On my home page (not the index page), there are six images showing the type of photography we cover. Each image is a link to that sections web page. The buttons in the menu won't work until after an image has been clicked. Once an image has been clicked the buttons work on all the pages including the home page. Also when I'm editing my pages (using the host's editor) the buttons work the way they are supposed to, even when I preview it. But when I access the site straight from the address bar they don't work until after an image has been clicked.

First thing I would suggest here is to get the browsers out of quirks mode so they behave properly.

You may also want to open a support ticket with CoffeeCup to see if their experts can help. Bill R.
