Sometimes there is a long lag between messages, and person on other end not receiving them all. sometimes my messages come up on my side twice or more.

Hi Patrick,
I find that closing the programs running in the background will help a little for this. not a cure but just helps.
I use Ctrl+Alt+Del and close what I'm not using.
Maybe this will help you as well.
