So if I use CC LiveChat to create this capability on my clients website, will my client have to purchase CC LiveChat software to use it? Or how does that work?

You may need to get that specific information from CoffeeCup directly.
My understanding is that your client would need to purchase the software to use it on their computer. Bill R.

In trial version......
1. there are no emoticons - just the keyboard shortcuts (no images)
Are there images in the paid version?
2. Can't seem to list a name instead of "Admin". My error or perhaps a restriction of trial version?
3. Will there be a feature to allow use of background images or is it already there and old dummy here hasn't seen it?

Yeah there are emotioncons but they are only quick shortcuts as an alternative to typing all of 3 characters... no images so to me it seems kinda pointless still its there to be used in public rooms I guess.
The name can be changed in the full version I dunno if the demo allows it or not as I never used it just bought the full one as its by far cheaper than any alternative of the same quality.

Sorry forgot to answer last question. no I cannot see a back image option you can insert image into the app so you could most prob just make a large image insert it and put it behind everything or just use the built in gradient function which works well enought for me.
Also just as an interesting piece of info using a quick clever bit of script you can also turn the can icon on and off within a page enabling you to show users before they even get to the chat if its available or not
