live chat program

Hi Eric,

I apologize for the stupid question but I'm not sure where to look for the html code. Will it be on my PC in the chat.html folder or in my hosted folders? I'll check both but thought if you were on I might be able to save some time.

I'm pleased with both programs so far so I'll be buying them later today. Do you happen to know if the new shopping cart program has been released yet? I've got a lot of variations of a few products so can't really use the October release since I don't think it's versatile enough to do what I need it to. I know this is the wrong forum for that but I'm just curious to know if I would be able to buy that one too, today or if I have to wait a little longer yet.

OK. I just checked my chat.html folder in my public directory but couldn't find any code with the domain name. I just eyeballed all the coding. Do I have to actually put it in an editor to find it. I'm sorry if the questions are getting more and more stupid but I ended up spending the night in the hospital after 911 took me by ambulance in a low blood sugar reaction to a new diabetes med I'm on and I'm still not thinking straight. Sorry.

Thanks again, Eric. I really appreciate all the help you gave me.

Sorry for all the updates but I just checked the xml document on my pc and found the chat address that you said is right but couldn't find anything wrong in it. Do you think I'm just missing it or am I looking in the wrong places?

Thanks.

Sheila

I mis-spoke. It wont be in your chat.html, but your index.html.

Regarding the pro version, there is no release date for it. Scott keeps telling us "its coming very soon!" It would be nice to see it within the next two weeks.

Hi Eric,

Thanks again for your help. I found the reference in the index.html and made the change. I hope that takes care of it. I also went through, once again, and changed the permissions on those chat files. I had done that a couple of times already but, it seems that when I republish, I have to do it all over again.

Hopefully, i can give it a good work out tonight to try it out. I was put behind a couple of days because, as it turned out, I was only out of the hospitl 2 hours on Monday before the rescure squad took me back in and they admitted me. I finally got out this afternoon so I'm back to working on straightening up a messy site.

Do you know why my site would look fine to me on my computer but be out of wack on my daughters and sons? It makes it difficult to make the necessary corrections because I can't see what's wrong with it from my end. Is there anything I can do to see it the way others are seeing it on their web browsers? If you can give me that answer I'd be all set.

Thanks. too, for letting me know about shopping cart pro. As it turned out I didn't get to even purchase the chat or the search on Monday because I wasn't here long enough but I'll do that now for the search at least. Hopfully, I'll buy the chat later this evening after testing it out a little more..

Take care.

I need help again from anyone out there that is currently on and familiar with live chat. I am back to square one basically. I have made all the changes that I've documented up to now. Permissions are set to 777, i've got my live chat open, and i can log in to chat with myself from my site. But my husband can't chat with me from across the room! He's still getting the message that the page can't be found. Now I'm totally at a loss. Why would I be able to chat with myself but nobody else seems to be able to chat with me. Right now I've only updated the chat box on my home page, so if anyone has a chance to help me out with this, please try it from the home page first. The code seems to be the same as it was when i installed the chat box on all pages but the one on the main page is the most recent in case that makes any difference.

I've got the search working as far as I can tell and I purchased that tonight but I'm still having these issues with the chat so haven't bought that yet. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for listening.

Hi,

Thank you so much. It's thewritesolutionsnow.com as I mentioned earlier I updated the chat link on page 1 although it seems like the same code I used for all the others as well. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Just got done talking to you over your chat. Everything worked very well from my end. You just need to update your links to point to the correct location.
