Live chat looking for users

My log file are now filled with entries of Live Chat looking for users. Is there any way to slow down the frequency at which chat.php looks for users? If I understand this correctly, it seems to be checking for users every second. Is there a line of code in the php file or in the java script that I can modify to reduce the frequency to maybe every 5 seconds?

I checked the files over and didn't see anything obvious. I'll have to take a better look. I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's so easy to overlook something your not looking for.
