Hi,

I have been using Live Chat for a while and initially everything has worked fine.
Now however, with the admin window open, when a client logs in they are displayed in the table ok and then after a few seconds disappear and then come back again. This process carries on throughout the chat.
The customer side seems ok and is stable but the admin window loses the chat text everytime this occurs so I cannot make a copy of the transcript.
Obviously the other thing that really bugs me when this happens is the infernal bell alert when the client pops back into the window.

I have checked my firewall and router settings etc. and everything appears ok.

Any ideas anyone, it's driving me round the bend!

Steve.

Steve,

Had a reply from the tech team and it turned out to be a files permission problem!
I'll forward to you their response.

Steve.

Don't know but I will ask support for you seeing as I already have a ticket open on this problem.

Steve,
This is the response I got from technical:

Hello Steve,

This is an intermittent issue our developers are looking into. It's normally caused by the permissions settings on the server, since the PHP script can't keep the txt file open but we've seen it occur with full permissions set here as well. We're not sure of the exact cause yet, but it should be corrected in the next version.

Thank you,

Thanks for your help! I have set all the permissions to full and still the same thing, very odd! Thanks!

We are getting same issue here please could you send me a copy of the email you got from tech support as well as I'm having a hell of a time trying to sort out this issue I've sorted the permissions, tired linux and windows hosting and many other things to sort it and I just cant solve the problem and its really starting to get to the stage where I'm not sure if I should start looking for a refund under the not fit for purpose laws as lets be honest a support or sales chat where the chat client cant even keep the user loggedin and contiuosly erases the chat makes it pretty impossible to provide and kind of quality reply also meaning you can't back check what you have done already so if you are handling multiple chats at once this could mean the downfall of support and also getting your company a bad rep as it would seem as if your techs arent really paying any attention where as actually the system chat is whats stopping them from helping the customer efficently.

After thinking I had it working Malcolm, the same problems started started again, very frustrating.
My client has now pulled the feature from his website because it is unworkable.
I purchased my copy some time back so I guess Coffee Cup will throw out a request from me for my money back! Would be rather refreshing though for a software company to hold their hands up and say, "ok, we got it wrong and it doesn't work, here is your money back."
A great deal of respect would be obtained if they did do this!

"should be corrected in the next version"???

Doesn't fill me with confidence. Has there been any fixes or more information around this issue or if a new version is coming out?

Like your products. This is the first one that hasn't lived up to expectations.

Because chat logs erasing when switching between users is insane. Makes it unsable for private chats.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
