Have full, paid version of CC v 14.1. Problem: Have HTML in editor--want to save as a template or layout. I click on File > Save as layout/template. The new version is saved with the correct file save time; however, when I then click on the process to display what is in the editor in my browser an older, unedited version is displayed. Obviously, the Editor is picking up the wrong version of the file. But how in !@#$% can I get the Editor to display the modified file instead of the older version?

By the way, I have replaced the Markup folder per your FAQ instructions.

Hi Austin,
Clicking on "New From Theme/Layout" will start a new site from an existing theme not save the current one as a theme.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Thank you. But how do I then save the file in the EDITOR, above, as a layout/theme?

Look to the themes folder and you can see how other themes are setup. Just do the same thing for this project.

Sorry to bother you again but when I did this yesterday, the file name title appeared in themes but when I attempt to look at this project I continually got an error message telling me that the image is not visible . . . even though the same files display just fine in a browser. I tried this with a number of HTML projects with the same results.

An aside: I briefly last used CoffeeCup and HTML many years ago, when CC was truly free (not just cripled) and when CSS were just starting to appear on the horizon. I lived, breathed, ate and slept COBOL when I retired as an IT manager, but inexperience with HTML and my age are showing, now! Thank you for your patience with me.

If you can recommend a "CC for Dummies" web site, book, et al, (something more extensive and "cook book" than the HELP file, which I've already printed) I'll be happy to get off this forum. However, currently this seems to be about the only avenue available for newbie questions since CC makes direct support e-mail impossible.

Why not just save your website as a project and instead of using it as a theme, simply duplicate the project as needed and use File > Open. I think you may be trying to make a simple task much harder. ;)

What are you smoking Austin? Our product is not crippled. Why do you say that?

Uh.. Did you try and open a support ticket? If you don't attempt to reach us, how are we to help?

Yea I agree here with Scott Austin. It is very easy to open a support ticket just go here https://www.coffeecup.com/help/myroom/ .

I have used this software for years and have never run into the issues you are having. As Scott already indicated, I believe you are making it much harder than it has to be. Follow his advise and you will be off and running.

Not only is the staff very prompt in answering questions there are several users just like you in these forums that would be more than happy to help you out if you run into any issues along the way.

Happy coding!

Scott, I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. If you will read the original post you will see that I never said that the current FULL, paid version of CoffeeCup was crippled. If you care to read the original post I said that the FREE version of the current HTML Editor is crippled as compared to the FREE version of many years ago. The current version, FREE or FULL, is obviously more versatile with more “bells and whistles.”

I thought the HTML Editor was an excellent editor when I first used it, some eight to twelve years ago. I still think it is an excellent EDITOR. The ancillary functions to the Editor are a bit obtuse, to me, but I am determined to master them. I think the innuendo has gone on long enough. May we now perhaps return to a professional relationship?

OUT.

Hey Austin,

Have you ever known a free or trial version of software to be as good as the paid version. The point of it is to give you a small taste of what you can do to give you a chance to test drive the software and entice you to purchase the full version. I mean its well worth its value at $70 bux... if you wait for an email with a coupon code like they often send out you could get as much as 30% off.
