For years the policy of coffee cup has been " If you buy our software, you have Updates free for life!
Now you changed to having to buy The HTML Editor called 10 for full price.
I feel your promise is no good for a lifetime downloads of software I have purchased.
If you have a new program, give it a new name and be honest.

A customer ever since you came on line in the late 90's

This topic has been beaten to death. The new HTML Editor is a complete re-write from the old one. Everything is going responsive. Even though it is named the same, it is not the same program. Read through the forum posts and you'll see lots of information on this. All of the CoffeeCup programs are being rewritten to be responsive. CoffeeCup polled the forum users for quite some time before deciding to charge a reasonable upgrade fee for the new programs. If you had signed up to receive CoffeeCup email or newsletter you would have gotten a remarkable upgrade price.

I do find it remarkable that you've been a customer since the 90's, and yet only have 1 post in the forum. You should visit more often. Lots of folks here to help you out. About the only thing you can do now is open a support topic and see if CC will give you a upgrade discount. Good luck.

Yeah as Gunsmoke says it's been debated time and again about this very subject and yeah Gunsmoke is also right why have you only put one post and a one to complain?

Having said that, I think your right as I've mentioned in the debate but hey ho. You don't have to buy the upgrade if you don't want and quite honestly I can't see why it's needed a whole rewrite it's almost the same apart from an app that's added.and it does nothing for being responsive you still have to do the coding. CC team have come up with some good reasons on all of this as well as the other exciting projects when they come en masse. I think there is an upgrade for $19 and ends today. I got an email from CC saying there was a special offer of upgrade for Monday 16th, Monday where I live is the 17th but time differences may account for that. Just ask if your interested to the CC team

Being you are a newbe yourself, I guess you left all the original forum posts in CorpusChristi when they moved to Atlanta.
I find it remarkable that they allow you to advertise your private site on the forum.

Don't turn this into a flame thread King or it will be closed. There's no need for name calling and insulting people just because you don't agree with something CoffeeCup is doing.
For the record, these 2 people have been around for a very long time.
Forum posts do not always reflect how long someone has been around, just how often they have posted on a forum and nothing more.

What Gunsmoke says is correct. Do some searches on the forum and you will see that this topic has been brought up and beat to death many times over the past months. This isn't a decision that CoffeeCup decided to do over night one night, this is something that's been in the works a while and we've were aware of it well before it took effect. If you've not gotten emails on it there's no one to blame but yourself for not being on the mailing list.

Search the forums, read what everyone has already said and call it good. Posting bad things and attacking others that are trying to help explain things to you does not earn you any friends nor solve anything. It's certainly not going to make CoffeeCup change their minds on this.

There's no advertizing going on here, why would we when we've all designed. Would we get another designer to design our web page that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. Our pages are things where we can get feedback perhaps from others or things that mean a lot to us personally but it's not touting for business.

There's no company or organization that we agree with totally or all the time in the world regardless of who they are. CC are run by humans, we may think they make mistakes but I know for one they try their best and if you have a problem that people can't solve on the forum, they are back within hours, you don't get that from many others. You don't have to buy the upgraded version, your hands aren't tied behind your back. I don;t need the upgrade at this point as I'm holding out for other stuff that's coming out soon. It's fair enough to say what you think, but at least do it with some class.

I don't follow the forums, and I only check the newsletter every now and then...
if the software is NEW, and BUILT FROM SCRATCH, why is it HTML EDITOR 14?!
if you intend to use the same name, than at least don't continue numbering as the OLD SOFTWARE... it is at least VERY CONFUSING... but as I have seen the changes that went on on CC, that is something that I would expect to happen...

probably my post will be delete, as no one can express their minds around here (unless they agree 100% with CC ideas) without getting the post deleted or getting banned from the topic...

That's not quite true Ricardo, this has been going round in circles for a while now, we all have our own opinions and they have been expressed and haven't been taken down. There's loads of debate, but many of us have given our ideas and others have given there's. It's all old hat now. Sometimes when there are changes or updates to software from any company it's not always a positive thing, but we all have the choice.

A change in policy that was advertised to all. No hiding that they made a business decision. This is still a very unique company that seems more like a close friend.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

And no matter your opinion, express it in a polite or at least reasonably polite manner and it will not be taken down nor will you be banned. Every opinion counts and sometimes it's even surprising what CC will listen to.

Just keep in mind, we do not work for CoffeeCup. This is a users forum and we are all users just like you. Occasionally a CoffeeCup rep like Scott will monitor the forums just to see what users are talking about. I think they get a lot of their ideas for new stuff that way! But on the whole, we all go through the same things you do. We all had to deal with the loss of the free upgrades, but times change and small companies just have to make a profit or they will vanish.

On the whole CoffeeCup puts out fantastic software and I cannot think of any place where you can get better support. Not to mention all the help you can get from users of this forum. Just be nice, and we'll all be nice back!
