Slow Start-up time in HTML Editor -...

My CC HTML Editor seems to open incredibly slow after it hasn't been opened for a few hours (like the next morning). This morning it took almost two minutes from the time I clicked the icon to open the program until it was completely loaded and ready to use. Right now, I can open and close CC and start-up is about 2-3 seconds. If I leave CC alone for a while, I'll be looking at the 1+ minute start-up time.

I have 8 website projects in CC that all point to mapped drives on our network. Has anyone noticed if mapped drives seem to slow things down? I'm just curious if this may be a culprit in slow start-up times.

I did a complete reinstall yesterday thinking that starting from scratch might help, but this morning I see that it made no difference. I am on Windows 7 64-bit.

Did your machine come with Win7/64, or did you upgrade from a previous OS?
How many other programmes have you got open at the same time?
Do you leave your computer on over night?
How about background tasks like virus scanning etc?
Are any other programmes also opening very slowly?
How much RAM do you have?
Capacity of the CPU?
Have you defragged lately?
Do you empty junk files regularly?

There are many reasons why a programme takes time to open. The HTML Editor hasn't changed for a while, so most likely there is something in your system that is causing the slowness. Check my questions above. Too little RAM is very often the reason why a programme is slow.

Since you say you have done a complete reinstall (I'm supposing that you did a reinstall of EVERYTHING, not just the Editor), there shouldn't be a lot of junk files, but try running Ccleaner to see. You find that wee programme at Piriform.com

Are you on the current version of the program? If not what version are you on?

Thanks for the response Inger. Below are my answers to your questions.

Did your machine come with Win7/64, or did you upgrade from a previous OS? Came with Win7/64bit
How many other programmes have you got open at the same time? Two (Outlook 2007 and Firefox with one tab open)
Do you leave your computer on over night? No, it's a laptop and shuts down every noght before I leave the office
How about background tasks like virus scanning etc? Symantec is installed (company policy) but I have Proactive Threat Protection feature disabled. That would slow all my network copies down to a crawl when the Proactive Threat Protection was enabled.
Are any other programmes also opening very slowly? No
How much RAM do you have? 4GB
Capacity of the CPU? Intel i5 2.4GHz
Have you defragged lately? No, but I will do that
Do you empty junk files regularly? By "junk", do you mean Windows .tmp files and browser cache's? If so, then yes, I do clear those out quite often.

I will check out Ccleaner.

I'm on version 12.5 (build 412)

Anxiously waiting for the new release this week. Sounds like some good stuff in there!

To me those computer specifications of yours sound ok. I have a 6 years old Vista laptop myself, with 3GB RAM, and no slowness with opening the Ediror, once the OS has snailed its way through the booting procedure, that is.

Try the Ccleaner, and cross your fingers that the next update of the Editor will be launched soon :) Maybe someone else here has some suggestions to other things you should check...

I'm running the defrag on my PC right now and it's been running for the past 45 minutes. The analysis said that it was 10% fragmented.

Well, that could be a reason...

I'll check it out tomorrow morning after I boot up for the day and see if it made a difference at all.

Thanks for the help!
