Refreshing Images - Page 1

I build my images on "the fly" - - importing them as I create each page or section of each page -- however I can't seem to find a way to refresh my file folder from the HTML editor without closing the project and then reopening it, to find the newly created image, which is annoying. Really annoying.

Am I just missing something?

This is something I occasionally do, and it shouldn't be necessary to completely exit the project to refresh your image list, at least with the way I organize my folders...

One thing that's important is that you've saved the page you're working on if it's a new one. This helps assure that relative links and some internal settings within the CC HTML Editor are retained.

Here's how I do it:

I add an image to a page that's being modified. I tweak some more code and decide that I want to add another new image that was just stored in the 'jpegs' folder. I click the Insert Image icon, and look at the list of pics. If a picture file that I've just added to my folder doesn't appear in the list, I click the down arrow (red square in my example picture) next to the field where the currently-selected folder is located, and the select the same folder name from the drop-down list that appears. This reopens the folder and the list is refreshed.

Hope this helps!

My html editor does not do that. I just have to click the refresh button.

I also wish it had a refresh button, I too have to do the close and reopen project a lot everytime I create a new folder or manually add any files (adding them within an Explorer window rather than within CC HTML Editor. Refresh would be sooooo nice *hint hint* :P

@Jo Ann, did you try my method? Works great for me.

I read it wrong cb, I'll try it for sure today and see if that works for me too, would be great if it did, but it's not an intuitive solution unfortunately. A refresh button doing the same thing would be a lot more user friendly :)

Thanks very much for the tip though, I will most likely use it a lot as this issue bothers me all the time lol.

Hitting the 'Up one level' button and then re-selecting the same target folder also works. And I just noticed, if I leave the "Insert Image" dialog open while adding a file to the selected folder, the new file appears without my having to do anything...

(You might also try the 'universal refresh' -- hitting the F5 key while the dialog box is open. I haven't tried that yet, but it might work.)

Well I guess I still don't get it lol. I think the issue for me isn't just images that I want to insert, it's that the file tree will change on me. If I remove a folder or a file it will many times make a bunch of folders disappear on me (just not visible, they are still on my computer) so I usually would close the project and reopen it.

Funny though, I just realized I can actually just reload the project without closing it and that fixes that issue so I'll try it next time I have a file/folder that isn't on my list yet. Most of the time I can close the folder and reopen it to make files added outside the program show up, but not 100% of the time. If this works that is fine with me, but we still need a refresh button, preferably one that will refresh whatever directory we have highlighted (this way it won't refresh the whole tree and close all the folders and make us navigate back to where we were making it take more time than just closing and reopening the project does lol)

Once again though cb, I will definitely try your method if I get to an image that I need to show up on my list, that will definitely help on that part.

It's possible, though unlikely, that the ease of use that I enjoy may be related to the fact that I don't use Projects, as I've been using my own logical folder tree since building my first website in mid-90s. Even after switching to the CC HTML Editor, their 'project concept' didn't exist -- that's something relatively new.

At any rate -- a refresh button would be a welcome addition. I was just attempting to help by pointing out an easy alternative.

(Hurray! My 100th post had nothing to do with egg madness! :D)
