I'm a reluctant convert from the now obsolete HomeSite. It would be great to find a general area of help for others making the conversion. Does this exist?

Specifically: Is there a way to strip the comment tags from a block of code?

Thanx

Hi Robert,

I guess I'm a bit confused to exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Can you please provide more detail.

Hi Robert,
Take a look at this thread.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Whereas there are some help articles around FrontPage and Dreamweaver in conjunction with some of the CoffeeCup programmes, there has not been much, if any, demand from Homesite users. I was actually a Homesite user myself, but that was nearly 20 years ago, when Homesite 1 came out.

I don't think there is the need for a dicussion group for previous Homesite users. If your questions are related to a specific CC programme, you can ask in that programme's group, like you have done. If not, there are also groups called Web Developement and Breakroom.

As to your question, in the HTML Editor you have something called Code Cleaner (look under Tools) with various options. CC also has a programme called Website Insight (WI), in which you can find a tool called File Compressor. Whether any of them actually strips the comments out of the code, I'm not certain, but you could download trial versions and check if they are what you are looking for.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Let's say I have I have a block of code - which is commented out - like this:

<!--
Code...
Code...
Code...
Code...
Code...
-->

With HomeSite I could highlight the whole block then right click >selection>strip outermost tags.
I use the comment tags to remove, then later restore blocks of code - the content of my site changes daily, sometimes hourly.
I'm wondering if there is any way to do something similar with CoffeeCup.
