On the Find & Replace, why is there not a "Within Selection" option? I use this all the time to clone modules with slight changes. The way your editor works I would have to paste the selection to another edit window, do the changes there, then copy and paste that back into my working script. When will that be added? That is the only feature that keeps me from using this editor exclusively.

You can always make a suggestion.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Check the menu, you'll find it in there I'm sure, There is find and find and replace and it will even replace in multiple files. :)

Why would you need to put the copy in another editor in order to make changes? With HTML Editor, do a Find and Replace. It's under the Edit Menu or you can press Ctrl+H.

Details folks, read the original post. I understand that Find And Replace exists and how to use it. But there is no option to only apply the changes on SELECTED TEXT. Have you never had a code snippet you wanted to clone with minor changes?

Tobin gets its. Seems the forum advisors don't.

Please stop replying to these posts unless this "feature" that was asked for has been added to the editor.

Lee,
I'm going to break your request and tell you that the above users were only trying to help as they understood the problem. Posts on here aren't always as clear to the responders as they are to the posters and I would never request users to not reply if they thought they could add additional info. This is what a forum is about. :)

You are asking for help in the forums and these are users just like yourself taking time our of their day to help you. Now if you want to be rude and condescending, please do that someplace else. It has no place in our forums.

Might I also add that my reply was to the post of yours just before mine and I appologize that I didn't scroll all the way to the beginning and assumed from that post that it was find/replace you wanted, not a within selection feature, my bad on that and sorry for not pursuing things further.

With that said, I have to agree with everyone else, being rude will get you no where here and truly I'm pretty much not wanting to bother ever helping you again if that's how you treat fellow users.

I would also like to point out you are talking about doing something so redundant in your first post that it makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would you copy text to some other editor to edit it and then put it back into the HTML Editor? Truly it IS a text editor so why would you have to edit it elsewhere? Just an observation here is all.

I would also make the point of saying that Find and Replace is going to find all instances of a particular word/phrase that you type. If you're only wanting it to check a certain place then do it by page which is going to limit the number of them it finds. Takes 2 seconds to scroll through the instances it found to find the one you're looking for.
You're making it sounds like it's an extreme burden that it doesn't do this, yet the amount of work it would save is very minimal, not an excruciating thing in my book.

Now having said that, I too would love to see that feature added, but that's something you would put in the Suggestions thread for the HTML Editor, where this banter just isn't allowed to happen!

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
